Top 10 New Characters from MLP Season 5

Oh my goodness, this season First of all, Starlight Glimmer was my favorite villain to date. She's interesting because she's not just going for the standard revenge/destroy the world/take over the world plot, she has her own unique, twisted agenda that makes her intriguing. The other thing I love is that she's perhaps the most frightening villain to date, but instead of having an "obviously evil" character design, she looks just like a randomly selected background pony. And Moondancer. Moondancer is my favorite character of all time. I've related to other characters before. I've always identified with Twilight, as well as Rarity and Fluttershy, but Moondancer is first character I've met (in any show) that was an exact reflection of myself. So much that it took me a full three hours to gather the emotional stamina to make it through the episode. It took five seasons, but this friendship show has finally convinced me to make friends, because of Moondancer. And Rara of course was excellent. But how was Spoiled Rich not a dishonorable mention? This show is tearing me apart.

Starlight should be #1 Twilight had to convince to stop on her own in the finale, otherwise, she would've never beaten her. Also, I wish everyone would stop giving the yaks a hard time. People harp on them for being jerks, but I personally find them hilarious. The prince made it clear right up front, 'Yaks always get mad when things not perfect,' and that's what happened. It's not their fault things weren't perfect, blame it on Little Miss Purple Princess Twilight for trying to recreate things from their country. The yaks were just reacting to them failing to recreate their country. Pinkie even pointed it out at the end of the episode that they should've just showed them their own cultures instead of Yakyakistan's. And the way the yaks react to things not being perfect is hilarious with how over the top it is. I mean, come on, they beat up snow. SNOW!!! You can't tell me that's not funny! So yeah, I would say the yaks are one of my favorite characters from season 5.

My top three: 3) for some reason, I really liked grey / cutie markless Sugar Belle so much better than her normal pink with cutie mark version (probably because of the apron...gotta love that apron)...2) the adorable mhm-ing (and blushing) of Marble Pie...1) there can be no doubt that Starlight Glimmer stole Season 5 and proved that there is actually another non-alicorn unicorn who knows more than just basic levitating magic...that being said, "Amending Fences" was still the best episode and I just loved Minuette (tied with Lyra and Octavia for best new talking character of Season 5).

My favorite new character in a non-speaking role was Greta. I think her design is absolutely beautiful and really want to see her again, hopefully as part of Gilda's griffon kingdom friendship crew in a season 6 episode. Top 5 that had prominent roles for me: 5 - Sassy Saddles 4 - Party Favor 3 - Starlight Glimmer 2 - Coloratura 1 - Moondancer

Another one to include (Whether on the list, or as a "Dishonorable Mention," depending on how you look at her) imo should be Spoiled Rich from 'Crusaders of the Lost Mark.' In the year and a half or so that I've been a Brony, I've long wondered how Diamond Tiara could have turned out so rotten, considering that Filthy Rich comes across as a nice enough guy. The very minute that Spoiled Rich showed up, however, she answered all my questions in that regard, caused me to see Diamond in a new light, and drove home the message that you shouldn't judge someone too harshly until you have at least some knowledge of what kinds of crap they might be going through in their own lives.

Whoever saw the first episode before Moondancer's own episode, many people wondered who moondancer was, including me. So glad that Rara beat out Starlight Glimmer. Honestly her redemption in the finale felt way to contrived and forced. The power she gathered to be able to stalemate the alicorn of magic and the element of magic had no explanation at all. She didn't even care that her actions would destroy Equestria. Also no consequences at all for trying to alter the past that would have led to Equestria being destroyed.

+Fox Anderson Agreed. I REALLY hope things work out with her joining the mane six. She has no interests other than equality and magic. She has no talents other than "equality" and magic. She has no personality traits other than being angry and manipulative, both of which are sure to disappear now, just like Sunset Shimmer's personality. She will be horribly one note for a character appearing in every other episode without EXPERT handling- they barely got it on with Sunset Shimmer, who was more complex, for two movies. I have faith in the writers, but god will they have to do something right. Hopefully they'll go the Discord route, but it's doubtful.

+Fox Anderson The explanation might be that she's just talented and gifted, also that she has trained in combat magic to be able to defeat Twilight. Twilight is smart and knows spells, but her field obviously isn't magic used in combat. Besides, she never meant to destroy Equestria in the first place. It was stablished that she was unaware of that, and after seeing that she was on denial because well, seeing all Equestria destroyed because of you is pretty traumatizing and also hard to accept for her, as she believed no pony could have so much influence in the faith of the world. Once she thought things through she stopped inmediately. In the end she didn't destroy Equestria and nopony got hurt, and the one whom she actually meant to hurt forgave her. You could also argue about her backstory, but this episode explains who little details can snowball into the future. You shouldn't only look at the fact that she lost a friend (which indeed can be pretty traumatic for a kid), but how that started becoming a bigger problem as time passed.

There are a heck lot of faults in this, such as you saying "Sixth Season" when you meant fifth, and though I think all the characters deserved to be here I think they should've been in a different order, but generally I really like your presentation and I think this was a fun video. The length of just over ten minutes is also the perfect length for these videos.

That is exactly why someday soon he should be a new main character, turn out to be whatever the missing green element of harmony is, and get a new throne in Twilight's castle. None of that ever happened to Starlight Glimmer. [gasp] Maybe he was going to Pinkie's welcome party and Starlight dragged him away from it!
