ya OEM parts for bags. Chanel should take back the resell market and be the only one who can guarantee the bag was refurbished authentically.

Only the actual brands can actually call themselves authenticators of their own brand products. No self proclaimed third party authenticator business should ever be so arrogant to presume and state that they are 100% correct all the time at authenticating products from other brands. All red flags would go off for me if I saw a self proclaimed authenticator business claiming they are always correct and even more red flags would go off for me if that business also sold preloved luxury bags… just think about the bias that business might have at authenticating the bags they are selling. These concerns are just the tip of the iceberg though. I could easily say much more on this topic. The receipts are in hand.

Jacob, I've taken a look into your two of your videos about Chanel. Just from the initial two, I've come across areas of concern and misinformation about many things you shared that are incorrect. Tackling all your videos will be quite the journey, but I'm sincerely dedicated to it. My aim is both to share these insights with you and to help guide the public towards a clearer understanding and more accurate view . I'm in the process of creating a video that gently highlights these points, with comprehensive explanations. And while I do so, I promise to "endorse you".

@@H.A.-zr2wc When disseminating specifics like stitching details, color schemes, seasonal details, sizes, and insights about the Masion and the work of craftsmanship to a broad audience, it's crucial to be accurate. Misrepresenting such details can significantly influence decisions, especially when the information is incorrect. Sharing such details privately is a different matter. However, when addressing a vast audience, it's essential to verify facts before making definitive statements. You forgot to look at the main issue of my comment and I rarely comment. It's rather surprising that he used my content without attributing it to its rightful owner. Didn't he raise a similar concern when it happened to him? The discrepancies I've identified are not minor; they can impact the decisions of those unfamiliar with Chanel. I've received numerous links to his content pointing out his errors many times, especially when they contrast sharply with the accurate information I share with my clients. I've refrained from publicly addressing this out of respect. I hope you understand my point of view as someone who’s in this industry for 18 years. Thank you for your comment 🩷

I’m in Tokyo often and only purchase Chanel from boutiques. I noticed there were quite a few shops FULL of vintage Chanel, most of them gave me weird vibes. I refuse to believe it’s possible to find that many vintage bags in perfect condition, and multiples of the same kind. Another clue was when I asked questions they were irritated and started to argue in Chinese. 🤷‍♀️ I had a feeling some might be taking advantage of Japan’s reputation.

At this point, the only way to get an authentic Chanel is to purchase it from the boutique brand new. Gone are the days of vintage unless you want to flip a coin 🪙 50/50 fake or altered. I only purchased one pre-loved Chanel and I think it’s fake. 🤦🏻‍♀️

This is a great video. I am presently residing in Tokyo, and I have heard all these rumours about the Japanese preloved market including the fact that some reputable resellers even have their own refurbishing facilities. I have also heard that when the bags are much loved and damaged that it's very difficult to sell. Hence, they alter them to sell them at a higher price which of course take away their authenticity. Hence, I used to always wonder why so many people say that Japan vintage in Japan is the best when these things were happening for a while now.

Have you heard of Amore boutiques in Japan? There's several locations in Tokyo that focus on Chanel/Dior vintage items but have some other brands too. I visited one in 2019 and while it's a gorgeous Barbie pink store, the prices were 3x-5x what was market price at the time. The bags looked really worn/used and they don't come with the authentication items or boxes. A lovely sa explained that it was on the buyer's end to have the item authenticated on their budget and if it was proven fake, Amore would take the item back and issue a full refund. Problem with that is accountability, since it sounds as if some of the items could be fake, and they are selling fakes unknowingly to customers. Vintage boutiques need to be the ones proving that items are authentic, not selling dubious items.

@@Ms_EEthat may be true, but an authentic Polene bag comes at a much more accessible price than Chanel. So people are more likely to go to the source for their bags when it comes to contemporary mid-range luxury bags.
@Ms_EE
@Ms_EE Жыл бұрын
@BrownGirlColorStruckWorld l agree that the price of Polene and other mid/contemporary bags, make them more financially accessible to purchase brand new, direct from the retailer. But a profit margin for someone ntentionally buying a fake £50 Polene, for the sole purpose of selling it, still exists. Therefore, you could argue that the view Somehowadulting has shared, shows a potential for shoppers of 2nd hand Polene, to be led into a false sense of security if they think they can save £300 or £400 on a 'Authentic Polene, Brand New with Tags' from the preloved market.

I took my Chanel Classic flap to Chanel to get it repaired, you are right, I waited for about 5 months, they changed the hardware and put a more “modern” lock. When I got it back they had a piece of leather hanging. I had to take it back for another 2 weeks, I was done with Chanel after that. I have 4 Birkins and a Kelly - I still love and use my Longchamp more than any of them. My girlfriend has a fake Birkin and I cannot tell the difference, except the price. As a matter of fact, her’s is way nicer than all of mine, though her’s is box leather, the craftsmanship is reaaally good to the point I don’t even ask her where she bought it, because I don’t like the moral lack behind fakes, but my friend argue “how do I know mine is real?” I bought them all resale. She has a point 🤔

For me it is the ending. That chapter in my life has come to pass. I’m kind of not surprised about this news. It explains why their bags are in such good conditions. I’ve bought a few pieces from Japan. I’m confident as far as the Chanel ones because I did a-lot of cross reference. Meaning I looked for the same bag I bought being sold elsewhere and compared the bag and serial number. I did get a Kelly also in great condition. I’ve made peace with myself and is okay with it if I every come to find out it was ever tampered with.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to unethical resale of luxury items. I love some Chanel vintage purses, but i would only go for those extremely rare seasonal pieces BUT even then, i have seen fake seasonal pieces out there (like a fake seasonal saint tropez 2011 cruise collection). As for refurbished, i am not surprised. At that stage i would only buy from the store even though some past pieces are just to die for... Helas:((

I’ve also seen fishy postings on Vestiaire where it says the sale is from Japan, but when I see the actual location of the seller they’re in a Chinese city🤔 I don’t doubt there’s at least a few bad apples in the Japanese resale market, but a lot of the scams seem to be Chinese sellers posing as Japanese. Too much live selling in the internet, too much preloved , not rich but for me luxury is about the store experience how it feels to finally buy the bag that i save for months the service that it comes with , and this is also one of the reasons I don’t like buying preloved products , greed and cunningness in humanity is inevitable and as much as possible I don’t want the hassle and having to worry about the authenticity of my bags , this is also why I don’t dream to have classic bags,my rule is if the bag is not meant for me or if I can’t afford the bag then it’s not meant for me,quality these days though 😢.
