This channel has honestly been the number one reason I'm still a DC comics fan for like 6 years now. The quality of the content has only gotten better with time. It singlehandedly makes me keep up with comic book news. I even watched caped crusader mostly because I knew watchtower database would make a video on It. Though I enjoyed it more than I thought. I'm honestly running out of ways to praise this channel without seeming like a broken record, but you're so underrated I think I'll do it anyway. The way I view it, BTAS is the Pre-Crisis DCAU. A Crisis on Infinite Earths happened between BTAS and STAS (not the adaptation) which is why Wally is The DCAU Flash. However, they managed to instantly go straight to a new multiverse, rather than one Earth. Meanwhile, Caped Crusader is the Earth-2 of the Pre-Crisis DCAU. Fleischer Superman _is_ the same universe, but it will never cross over.

the way i see it i like to think that btas is post crisis dcau in terms of the tone of the stories but the actual stories of btas are based off the bronze age. i just think of bronze age and post crisis batman as pretty much the same person, and btas' batman fits both the criterias, but i say post crisis more cause you can also make the argument that superfriends was the one who had a crisis and got turned into the dcau

It makes more sense that Caped Crusader is just Earth 2, overall. Like, I do agree that Crisis happened. But, I believe that this was between Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, with the canned Crisis of Two Worlds. I believe - whatever similar events occurred - this is where changes to timelines occurred, resulting in Wally West as the Flash of DCAU.

@ Nah, Bronze Age and Post-Crisis Batman have a 15ish year gap. Crisis was 1985, Bronze Age started in 1970. Like, all of the original Ra's stories are Pre-Crisis stories. The original Batwoman actually ends up killed by Ra's in the last of the Pre-Crisis Ra's stories in the comics. Same thing with the Laughing Fish, Pre-Crisis. So I'm thinking that at the time of BTAS, BTAS is Earth-1 and Caped Crusader is Earth-2. After BTAS ends, Crisis happens. This is why the art style, tone, and technology level rapidly change between BTAS and STAS/TNBA. However, rather than rebooting into the New Earth setup they had Post-Crisis to Infinite Crisis, instead we have either a 52 or an Infinite multiverse as soon as the Crisis ends. They didn't fail quite as badly as the comic equivalent did, either they were able to do things so differently that it birthed a new multiverse or they saved 52 Earths. This also includes the Post-Nuclear Earth of the Justice Guild, which is very important actually. We only see a sliver of it in JL, but DC having a Post-Nuclear Earth is an important part of the DC Multiverse. In Justice League Adventures #30, we see Kamandi. He is from a post-apocalyptic Earth. This is a logical explanation of where he's from: The Justice Guild Earth. DCAU Kamandi comes from the Justice Guild universe, his events and the animal people are just elsewhere. The Atomic Knights could also exist in the Justice Guild universe, tho we never see them in the DCAU. But they're knights in armor that ride giant dalmatians. So they should exist.

My theory has been that the DCAU had their own Crisis on Infinite Earths which spawned The New Batman Adventures i.e. JL version of their universe. Barry exists, we just never see them talk about missing him on-camera. Or, ya know, any other universe altering even, like Flashpoint.

Even though I had read the interviews when they released, I always just took it as a new take on the Batman mythos that was like BTAS since it was going back to the more grounded Batman stories akin to Bill Finger’s Golden Age stories. Just like how BTAS was a love letter to the Bronze Age, TNBA took much inspiration from Post-Crisis & the Silver Age, and Brave and the Bold was a super-fan project of Silver Age/Pre-Crisis Batman, this was a heavily inspired work of the Golden Age Batman

still like the idea of it being early BTAS even if it doesn't totally fit. the tech stuff can be explained away with sliding timescale anyway, but like you said, doesn't really matter. doesn't need to be connected to stuff to be enjoyed. That said, I still sorta wish DC would retcon the Nolan-verse into a year-one esque introduction the in universe Batman, then have Justice League, Super-man, etc. happen 20-ish years later sorta like what the comics were doing a while ago where batman basically had 10+ years of crime fighting buildup under his belt before a lot of the meta-human weirdness started.

Take it from an old man...this is how comic book content will probably always be. It's just like the books themselves getting runs with different writers. Screaming about "Media literacy" while comitting the same oversight you did in your Crisis On Infinite Earths Pt. 3 short is certainly less than the thoroughness I've come to expect from this channel. Like I commented in that short at the time: You misunderstood, Darkseid *does* exist in the Tomorrowverse's multiverse, unlike what this video says when pointing out that version of the DCAU can't be the one we know. When Doctor Fate and Batman are explaining the birth of the multiverse, Doctor Fate says "Darkseid *must* exist. So Constantine's attempt to erase a fixed point in time didn't change the universe, it shattered it". Batman then explains "Two universes. One *with* Darkseid, one without." "And it didn't stop there." So that whole multiverse extends from the existence or non-existence of Darkseid, meaning like half the universes in it logically would follow the nature of that "with Darkseid" universe and still have one, so there is no reason to assume the DCAU Earth in that movie doesn't have a Darkseid.

Thank you guys so much for taking a long , detective style, look into Cape crusader! I absolutely loved it and enjoyed all it's a little Easter eggs and viewing in general! This is not BTAS, and it doesn't have to be! I enjoyed this immersion, different takes ( i love Oswanda/Harley) and have been going back rewatching it over and over ( at least do they make a Blu-ray/DVD announcement!). Can't wait to see what they're going to do in the future but thank you guys once again for making such a great video! It was well worth the wait and even Serum Lake gave a great recommendation to you guys! ( which, trust me, I was going to watch once I have the time anyway!)
