I like John Stewart and I get with the time the show came out, John and Kyle were the more active Green Lanterns in comics. But for the show to not even address Hal Jordan, apart from when they made him an anomaly. Hal’s the first & greatest Green Lantern of all time and will always be mine Green Lantern, so to not include him was disappointing. It was worse that they gave Hal’s origin to Kyle and even brought in Sinestro with no Hal. If the show referenced Parallax or Emerald Twilight It would be more understandable, but they didn’t and instead gave Hal’s origin to Kyle. And it’s also disappointing that they never brought in Guy Gardener (who is my second favourite Green Lantern).

My headcanon for Hal is that he never became a Lantern in the DCAU, but during one or more of those multiversal crisis-ish crossovers the League teamed up with a Hal Jordan from another universe who was instrumental in saving the day, became an honorary League member during that time, and was remembered in the DCAU history books for it.

If I had to guess, Timm & co. wanted to use Hal Jordan in S:TAS, but DC told them that they could only use the comic's current-at-the-time GL: Kyle Rayner (much like DC wouldn't allow the DCAU to have a kryptonian Supergirl, because DC was adamant about Superman being "the last son of Krypton"). DCAU's Kyle Rayner may have Jordan's origin, but his personality is very close to the comic's Kyle. Comic's Kyle Rayner has an origin that is impossible to adapt, since it is too informed by Hal Jordan's "fall from grace".

I actually like when the Green Lanterns have distinct uniforms. And I have no problem with them changing. Their suits are manifestations of their thoughts anyway, lol 😅. It would only make sense for them to change every once in a while. On a slightly different note, I always hated when their uniforms would remain when someone removed their ring. That never made any sense to me, lol 😅. It's created from their thoughts... BY THE RING! So how the heck does it stay behind when the ring loses power or is removed!? It makes NO SENSE, lol 😅.

I believe that Hal of this Earth dedicated his career to mostly in outer space instead of Earth because it has John and sometimes Kyle instead. In that time travel episode of JLU where we see Hal from the alternate timeline, that would mean that Hal and John's positions were switched so Hal remains on Earth and John is stationed in space. As for Star Sapphire, maybe she once had a thing for Hal something happened between the two so Hal left and she pretty much gave up on him and now is an enemy of John who I guess she's taking her anger out mostly on him being a Green Lantern rather than John himself.

As much as it's just speculation, I think I prefer to imagine Hal Jordan joining the Corps some time around when John did, if only because I prefer Hal being among the first human Green Lanterns. Just cuz his plane is still at that base doesn't mean he's still flying. He was probably also Honor Guard or something, keeping him mostly away from Earth for a long while, and just never gets mentioned.

I personally like to think that all the timey whimey shenanigans of "The One and Future Thing" caused Kyle Reiner and Hal Jordians stories to be retconned around so that Hal got his proper origin and place within the Core even though we never saw it. Also like to think that Allen Scott was Abun Sur using a disguise so he could help during WWII without showing himself as an alien. Though that has no backing from the comics. It's just something I like to think.

In regards to the Batman Superman worlds finest crossover, The Joker has his justice league and Justice league unlimited/Batman beyond design but I feel like it’s been stated that that design doesn’t get introduced until the Justice league which clearly it doesn’t. It’s so weird that Joker has this design for the crossover, but in the new Batman adventures, he has the black eyes no lips look. Would be cool if they gave a release where they updated his design to match. All of this is completely unrelated from the topic of this video, but that just made me think.

Actually, the traditional Green Lantern villains did do something in the show. Dr. Polaris try to take over the Legion of Doom....and failed. Sonar suggest an idea of a fighting ring that includes female superheroe's and he was even feature in that episode....until it failed. There was one time where Goldface try to go up against Lex Luthor....and failed. And...uhhh....Evil Star said something after being called "Evil head guy"....and that's it.... Yeah, your right. Most of them don't do much, other than being background characters to filled up a scene.

I got it. Jordan became corrupted (mentally unstable), due to ‘seeing’ the beginning of time (thanks a lot Chronos). He then travels through alternate DC animated universes, trying to find his way home. He corrupts the timelines in many of those realities and we see evidence of his corruption in comics and cartoons. He becomes so homesick that he becomes a mental Parallax of his ‘true’ self. Dare I say we will see a DC animated movie, to clean up the timeline(s)?

Green Lantern outfits are products of the ring, and like anything else that comes from the ring, can be chosen (in one episode, John Stewart fabricates civilian clothes that still convey the protections of a Green Lantern uniform, for example), so Bolovaxians don't have to be shapeshifters for Kilowog's changing looks to make sense.

I wish we had gotten a few more DCAU shows instead of and/or after Project Zeta I want a Green Lantern Corp show, could use this to work in more Hawk Girl stuff, also maybe more Tamaran, first look at Starfire? Wonder Woman, introduce us to Donna Troy (depowered as of now due to an unexplained situation with the titans, she is given the darkstar costume at some point), could also use this to get some more Aquaman stuff in here, create some timeline room for Garth to have joined back in the day, and maybe show what leads to him becoming Tempest after the first titans disband A Flash Show, he could just have his own show, I personally would like to see a retcon where it's revealed Wally lied about his origin, he's actually the second Flash and Barry was the first, well, Wally third and Barry second if you count Jay, but in my headcanon Jay has always been canon he just doesn't go by Flash, anyway, my idea for a Flash show, basically start the show by introducing Bart Allen Impulse, and he basically forces Wally to confront/reveal his lie, talk about Barry, reveal there was an unofficial teen titans team up back in the day where Wally was Kid Flash under Barry with Dick Graysen, Roy Harper, Donna Troy, and Garth Aqualad/Tempest (also idk Cyborgs canonicity, if he can work into the original team i want him and Starfire here, because from what i know Starfire hasnt been touched on much at all), Donna "died" (was really hurt and depowered,, then sent back to Themiscyra, which then leads into Diana meeting up with her in her own show), eventually they get Barry out of the speed force, maybe Wally lied so the Flash's villains wouldn't know that a speedster got put out of commission, protecting the symbols reputation, also, maybe he's embarrassed about having been a sidekick Eventually this lead into a modern Teen Titans show, bring back Dick as Nightwing, Roy as Arsenal, Donna as Darkstar, Wally Flash can stop in too with JL members have Tim as Robin, Beast Boy, Impulse, Miss Martian, Connor Kent Superboy, maybe a new version of the Kaldur Aqualad from Young justice?? Join as the new teen titans, and then even later on introduce Damian and Johnathan Kent Superboy into the mix and you got all the generations!

Regardless of their origins, it’s likely just a case of alternates with Hal being the former active patrolman of the sector. As for Kyle, he’s likely still adjusting, primarily to the core considering that variant was essentially drafted and we don’t know how long actual formal training takes place. Guy Gardner is normally depicted as someone with an attitude problem, so likely constantly under disciplinary lockdown. What that actually consists of take your pic.

By this timeline, by the end of JLU, John should be in his late 40s or early 50s, but is he ever called the first human Green Lantern? If not, there's an alternate idea for Hal: Hal was active in the 1960s-1970s. There's not a lot discussed about the pre-Batman post-WW2 DCAU heroes, but we know there were heroes. So, first Green Lantern, Hal Jordan. John has been Green Lantern since the 80s, about 15 years from 2000/2001. So, ballpark estimate, 30 years old in 1985 when he becomes Green Lantern. He's ex-Marines, college educated, not a fresh graduate, so 30yo sounds like a reasonable age. Joined up "young" according to canon, which we could estimate is likely 18 if he did so legally. So, that would be in 1973. That gives him and Rex two years in Vietnam, which makes sense for his character. In 1985, something happens and John replaces Hal. Hal obviously wasn't an important figure in Earth history, because Green Lantern was not common knowledge. So, to explain that, perhaps Hal became Green Lantern around 1970 and, fearing America trying to use him in Vietnam, instead left Earth behind and managed the sector instead of slumming it on Earth like he usually does. As for how Hal Jordan managed to join the Justice League later on? Simple: resurrection! He's already someone with a history of coming back from the dead, so why not? Something happened in 1985, Hal Jordan bit the dust. John Stewart replaced him, a second GL was added to the sector because that is a pretty bad death rate (bringing in Abin) and John proved himself in the sector. Abin dies, and it selects another human because humans are special. The humans are rotated, JL happens, and some time after JLU something happens and oh look Hal Jordan isn't dead anymore. Hal comes back to Earth, joins the League, does some great stuff, dies again, and nobody really cares that much by the time of Batman Beyond because Hal Jordan is the wonderbread of superheroes. So unnoticable that it's like there's a perception filter on him.

I have a theory that in the DCAU that Hal Jordan was the Green Lantern before John Stewart. passing his ring on too John. And I have an idea of how that would make sense in his brief cameo appearance where John phased out of reality and replaced by Hal in the Chronos episode. In that reality Hal didn’t pass his ring on top John and stayed the green lantern.

Watchtower Database True that does raise that very important question that could be contradictory to my theory on the Green Lanterns of the DCAU. I do have an idea that could potentially answer it, keep in mind it’s 2:30 am and I’ve had a lot of alcohol in my system already. - What if Hal Jordan (And maybe Guy Gardner) were never actually members of the Justice League? Because where we see them they’re surrounded by other Green Lanterns. I just rewatched that scene from Fatal Five while thinking this idea over. It never specifically states that all of the Green Lanterns shown were members of the Justice League. Only stating and to quote the movie: “Included in the Justice League Ranks, were members of the legendary Green Lantern Corp. Now lost to the ages.” My thought process is that it doesn’t actually say that Hal or Guy were members of the JL, it only states there were members but not how many. And we know that John, Jessica, and Kyle? were members. That last line somewhat supports my theory. When she says they were lost to the ages. It could suggest that they don’t know which members of the Green Lanterns were also on the Justice League. And so the shrine could Include Lanterns who weren’t members of the Justice League. Something else to mention we don’t see Kai Ro, the Human Green Lantern in Batman Beyond, depicted here in the Fatal Five. Even though he is a Human member of Justice League. Based off that info gives me the notion that the Lanterns shown would have to all be Lanterns in roughly the same time period. This same theory of mine can also be applied to Guy Gardner. My final theory on this is that Hal Jordan (and possibly Guy Gardner) were Green Lanterns before Kyle Rayner and John Stewart. How to explain how Batman didn’t know who Hal Jordan was is pretty simply just chalking it up to space stuff. And he wasn’t on earth similar to Kyle’s character.

That interpretation of the line is possible, but less likely because why then have those specific Green Lanterns on display? They’re all Earth ones. The LoSH come from all over the galaxy, they might as well display a bunch of alien Green Lanterns. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Watchtower Database That is true. They had to have chosen those specific Green Lanterns for a some reason. As we know there is at the very least one other Human Green Lantern in the DCAU asides from all the hundreds of none humans members.

It’s the Superman statue that throws that issue off/out. By the time a wax statue of Superman could be made, reversing time from that would be much before Superman debuted in this universe.

I liked the idea of John and Kyle being the only human GLs in this universe because it made the role special and made the GL identity as iconic as Superman and Batman. Now they've genericized it, which is a huge problem in the comics. Why? Why introduce Hal, when Barry was also erased but not brought back? Why complicate the Green Lantern mythos but not the Flash one? Seems like someone just doesn't like the idea of the main GL being black.

JLK What? What do you mean? The flash lore is complicated as hell. You got Jay Garrick who sometimes only exists on earth 2 and sometimes was only on main earth and sometimes exists on both. You got Barry Allen who died and then came back to life because he was in the speedforce being chased by black flash and not properly dead. You got wally west who was kid flash and then became the flash. You got Bart allen, barry’s grandson from the future who also became the flash at one point. There’s Avery Ho who is hero that lives in China who also calls herself the flash. Theres a future version Wallace west (not to be confused with wally) that also became the flash. And those are just the speedsters who have went by “the flash”. There are so many more.The flash lore is just as complicated. There are currently 3 people who go by “the flash” simultaneously and one of them has the powers of doctor Manhattan now! Plus from Hal Jordan onward the green lanterns were supposed to be in multitude. They’re the space cops. You can’t just have one space cop. Also at the moment there are only 4 white human green lanterns. The other human green lanterns are of other races so the black comment doesn’t really make much sense to me.

My guess is earth has so many green lanterns because A) they're offworld. If GL: TAS is Cannon it kind explains Hal and Guy is there too. B) Earth has way more baddies than most other planets (and I forget their relationship with Apokalips)

I prefer the simpler explanation that Sinestro broke his ring in half out of disgust with the Guardians, splitting the green into yellow and blue and he kept the yellow half. Too bad so much lore had to come along to prove me wrong about this.

Actually it has been known in the comics that the guardians can pick and choose people to get a GL ring. Even though normally it's the ring that picks the next person, or first person if it's a new ring.
