Like your reviews and in this case you correctly point out these are actually OIL cooled cars, and oil isn't as efficient at cooling as glycol/water is. I had a 996 Turbo for many years and would like to try a 993 Turbo.

What I really love about Porsches is that they are truly sentient machines, and connect with their owners on an emotional level, a bit like a dog. Most people didn't realise until they watched this video, that you can train your Porsche to start and accelerate just by hand signals! It's almost magical!

You couldn't have said it better. Water cooled Porsches lack that old school drama. All the smoothness and efficiency of today's engines is amazing and it's beautiful to see. However, the old ones have a kind of character, such a personality (although they are machines). That's a simple but necessary videos, a real life comparison.

The 3.2 Carrera has to be close to the best of all worlds. Still a bit of ruckus behind you, but a very derivable and reliable car. Nice exhaust note too.

@@HeidiandFranny I haven't had my '87 3.2 Targa for over two decades, and I still think about that car. The tune was one of its most lovable qualities, and it's a long list. I drove a 16 Targa a couple of years ago, and I felt so detached from the road, and all the electric buttons, and other 'modern' things, it was a huge disappointment.

Nice video i don't agree with some of that info.l am a Porches VW Guy 40 yr doing resto. Air-cooled is the best deal just love the nothing sound like an air-cool and the fan is part of that great sound. noise to some people. No water no worries

It's the classic raw Porsche experience that the air cooled motors deliver to the driver, and I just love that air cooled Porsche sound through all levels of RPMs.

Hi Trevor, those fan blades... They are really hard to deal with... They are magnesium I think and just set into this dull, corroded look. I polished the one on our car years ago when I R&Rd the alternator. It looks about the same as before I did that. You can try some mag polish, but don't expect miracles. They look weird all polished I thing anyway ;) The 3.2 is the dirtiest. The shortest way to a clean engine bay is to sign up for a Concours event. That is what gets me to get out the toothbrush and Q-tips ;)
