Session #1 (Intro)
Why does water drive preparedness?
Series deals with different levels of preparedness, starting with a One week scenario.
Having sufficient stored water is cheap insurance for you and your loved ones in a disaster. We can only survive a few days w/o water.
Many types of disasters can stop the electricity and thus the flow of water.
Before 'Pouring the water' we quickly discuss the importance of proper communications, and other considerations.

Thank you for the video! I was watching a video on amazing discoveries and I saw your profile so I decided to check it out. Made me think, how Long could my family and I survive without city water. Definitely helps to increase my sense of urgency when I think about that! Would you recommend getting a water distiller?

Hello Stardeem -- Ah Amazing Discoveries - a favorite channel here, as well as Clash of Minds. Good that you are thinking serious about getting ready - things could get bad -- really bad. We have a water distiller - but they use LOTS of power. So not too useful in a disaster when power and water are out. What are you using the distilled water for that you would need distilled water in an emergency? If you need distilled, you'd want to have it made in advance. We were using ours for medical preparations, but not using it much anymore; except to make water for refilling the Solar battery system. Thankfully we have good well water - no need to even filter it. --- Here are a few links my wife passed over to me on seeing your comments (she is always helping our friends that are prepping). I'm sure you're aware that if/when the electrical power goes out to your home, there will be absolutely no water available. First, please, identify a water source (soon), somewhere close by (river, stream, lake, pond, etc.) If you're successful, a special camping manual-use water filter will be required so the liquid, obtained, will be safe and drinkable. Please do your homework on this important subject. Water is by far the most essential means of survival. Example A - but probably not big enough for what you'll need: smile.amazon.com/MSR-MiniWorks-Microfilter-Water-Filter/dp/B000BBF2RY/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2RLAZJLCDXB8M&dchild=1&keywords=msr+miniworks+ex+water+filter&qid=1634950142&sprefix=MSR+Miniworks+EX+Water+Filter%2Caps%2C202&sr=8-2 Example B - larger military grade: smile.amazon.com/dp/B019ERWU66/ref=emc_b_5_i 10] If there is no water source to be found (or even if there is), you might think about purchasing some large empty, refillable, plastic containers, so you have something to cook with - refill yearly to keep them fresh. Because showers and toilet will be unavailable without electricity, you'll also need to designate a place outside in your backyard for "doing business", and bathing will be via a wet washcloth. Thinking about it more - ...perhaps you are thinking of a "water purification" system, and not distillation. Where we live a 'water distiller' is a boiling process to turn it to steam, then back to water - to remove minerals. Thus require lots of energy. While water purification is just to remove any contaminants and thus make it drinkable. Water purification can be performed without electricity. Many of these microfilter and osmosis type systems are available for home or in the field. We have some units for in the field - but as we've not tested them I don't have any input on which is best. You must take the level of filtration (microns) into account so as to filter out the harmful contaminants. Having a 'lifestraw' or similar for each person is very helpful. In our bugout bags we each have 2 different types - since water is so necessary. I do like the pump types, so you can get the intake down low into a pocket of clear water. For larger in-home units - everyone loves their "Berkey" filters - but they are quite expensive for what they really are. The knock-offs may work just as well - - if one studies the reviews carefully they could find one. Happy Sabbath, RH
