Bert and Jessica.... thanks for this great video. I just moved to Fairbanks and have found all of your informational videos helpful so that when I got here I felt at home. This video, however, was exceptional. During the house hunting I became aware that there were issues in the North Pole area. You explained all of that very well. And I was pleased to hear that the chemical issues are pretty much gone. I moved into a house in Western Fairbanks. I am on city water... for the first time in over 40 years. I have not been here long enough to form an opinion, but now I know what to look for, thanks to you.

Also the city water here in Anchorage is actually glacial runoff since it all comes from Eklutna lake, so it's super clean.

Hello my name is Yvonne I'm a mother of three and a wife to a wonderful man my husband is a truck driver he's gone most of the time and my kids and I love to watch KZbin it keeps us busy I came across your Channel about a week ago so I'm starting to catch up on all of your videos I cannot express how wonderful your channel is. I feel like I have found a new family on KZbin that will keep me laughing and when I feel down when my husband is gone for such a long period of time i feel like your channel is bringing me happiness and keeps my mind off of being alone for such a long time with out my hubby we live in Florida! So watching your life in Alaska it's a change of view and it makes me want to one day go visit Alaska I don't know if I would like to live there because I can't do too well with the cold weather but as I continue watching your videos it makes me definitely want to plan a trip one day to visit.. sometimes a lot of KZbinrs have channels and they don't know how it affects others and how much joy you might bring to others just watching your everyday lives and knowing that there are other places in the world and other things going on and how you guys share your lives with others it brings joy to me at least I can say and I know that others may think the same way as I do because you guys are wonderful and your three kids as well....I know how busy you guys can be but I would love to hear back from you your new KZbin fan!!!!!💟😏

5 peas in a pod ...Hello Yvonne! My husband was a truck driver for 15 years and I understand you perfectly. I’m forever grateful to God that he has changed his career. Our family was suffering from the fact that he was away all the time. Sure... we used to talk on the phone a lot but I got so used to him being away from home and me dealing with all the problems that at some point I didn’t like to have him around the house for more than 2 days. I know is strange..., I loved him so much and I was really grateful for his sacrifices but still, I couldn’t help myself. I hope that your family will be blessed with the joy of being together every day! Stay strong and God bless you all!

My prayers tonight will be for “happy people” lady that she gets a transplant soon. That was so kind of you to go over and help them out. I lived most of my life in Chicago area and we had city water. Our city water was from Lake Michigan and it was really good water. A couple times a year the city flushes out the fire hydrants and then you have to run your faucets for a bit, few minutes, to get rid of the rust. Now on my Mom’s side of the family they live in central Illinois and are farmers. Their houses always had that rotten egg smell, and the orange stained tub, sink etc.

Alaska wannabe here, currently in southwest Washington, the state, not DC. I'll be back to at least explore and vacation again, if not settle there. Good city water here. Years ago in Juneau, I had a water dispenser and delivery service for drinking water, and used oxalic acid to combat the rust stains from the well water. The rotten egg smell from the sulfur content took some getting use to though.

We live in Tupper Lake, NY (extreme north near Canadian border). We were told not to drink our water because it has haleocitic acid in it. Our water comes from our lake and there is an excess of algae (that scary sounding acid). Supposedly the town has applied for a grant for a new purification system. It's been over 5 years. We have a filter on the water in our refrigerator for all drinking/cooking water. Hoping that poor girl gets her transplant soon.

We are currently in Georgia but have a house in Wasilla that we will eventually move back to. We also have a daughter in Fairbanks. We spent a few years in Fairbanks and aside from the iron issues, some areas in the Fairbanks and surrounding area can also have high levels of naturally occurring arsenic in their well water, making it not safe to drink.

Have left Comments here before. As former Alaskan had lived mostly in the Mat-Su Valley. Ironically my "ex -husband" was a water well driller in the Valley for a long time. Water there is mostly Good, once had a 400 ft well. I have been in Eastern Tennessee for 13 years, was ready to move out some time ago. This week the temperatures are lower in the 80's, easier to live with. The water here is from a lake, reservoir, and it's expensive to purify, before water goes to homes. I'd rather be in Canada, or England, not here. Every day must watch at least one, or two of your blogs, it's addicting! Most of your blogs are fun to watch.

No water issues here in the city, now. But we lived in a 1 caution light town when my 14yo was born. And the town was fed from a spring. The water just went BAD one day and we were under a boil order for like a month. So the town decided to get water through the next town, who had water from the town on the opposite of us. Other words we were bypassed, cause we had the spring. Well our water went from 42.00 a month with a sewer tank to 90.00 with the same sewer tank. We sold and moved. HUGS, Blessings & lovins!

I live outside of Wasilla, AK. We're on a well but thankfully we've had no issues. It has been tested by the USGA (I think that's their name) a couple of times. Our well is about 60-65 feet, was drilled in 1983, and has no issues at all. We have had to replace the pump once in 30 years. We do have hard water but it's really not bad at all. We've never done a chlorine flush, never heard of it. We also do not have a water softener or filters attached.

Well water sounds like a lot of work. I've been on city water my whole life, but my grandparents had a second property right on lake Erie that was well water. We used to take our own water with us because we just weren't used to it. Eventually, they switched it to city water. No more smell, yellow water, or stains in the bathtub.
