Water Orton at it's Finest

I try not to go back to the same places too much. But I do like Water Orton for its variety and I had a great day this day. I also got to spend the day with my parents, get a few drinks in the pub next to the footbridge and go to the great chippy that is situated here plus see my great friend Mike (‪@antman09ful1‬ ). All in all a superb day!

The best rail video I have ever seen with some inspirational shots, love the opening sequence. Good to see Sonia on her usual job but seen in a different location and from a different angle. I normally watch rail videos in 15 minute chunks but I had to watch this one in one go. Well done Ben.

We can never have too much of a good thing. Water Orton is a good place with plenty of different vantage points to make an interesting video and with the added bonus of so many 'proper' freight trains. Also there are no overhead wires obstructing those fine views. Those low down shots from the footbridge were excellent Ben, I hope your subscribers appreciate the time you spent choking on diesel fumes to get those.😄

Thanks Mick. It certainly is a great location. I must admit those low shots where quite nerve racking. You don't realise how close to the train you are until you kneel down. Although the fumes kept me dazed and calm 🤣

Well Ben what an absolute epic of a video you've served up for us this time. A fantastic variety of traction and freight that make Water Orton a bit special. A class 37, 3x47's no less and my old friend "Sonia" on show were just the cream on top of what was a most enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing Ben 👍By the way, did you have any issues with the pub landlord regarding you filming from the carpark.? Back when i was a regular visitor ( '90's ) the then landlord wouldn't allow you to do that. All the best mate and have a great week, Colin.

Thank you Colin. WO always brings up a treat or 2 and this day was no exception. The Landlord has only been there for 4 years (roughly) and was pro train enthusiasts. In fact she sat with us for a bit and spoke about trains. Very accommodating and friendly. Was definitely worth buying a few drinks and was half tempted to get tea there as well as the menu looked good but the chippy to be fair filled me up.

Great great video Ben. you did something I could do, stop there nearly all day apart from a break to Atherstone. I did notice the sun came a for a very short time when I arrived, but the highlight for me was your double shots especially with 47830 and that shot of 66138 on E84 was brill Ben. Pleased you got some fish and chip when you got back from Atherstone, and have a super day on Saturday.

Thanks Mike. It is one of my favourite spots as you know but I have decided I won't be doing a day there for a while. Yes I decided to not go overboard on the double shots but use them on the interesting trains mainly and if I think 2 will pass for 1. I think the shot you mean was 66136 on E94. Yes that was a good shot but it took me by surprise when you kneel down on the bridge how close you are to the trains. It almost was a bit nerve racking haha. Thanks for coming by on the day. Good news I’ve finally managed to catch the black and orange freightliner class 66 yesterday at Birmingham international check it out 2 years after I caught the pink and white freightliner class 66 at Northfield station

Gotta love a bit of Water Orton for the variety of freight, its bi-directional line and the fact that there's no overhead catenary o get in the way. The bridge is a great vantage point and you got some cracking shots, especially on the Derby line. Can't comment about the pub as dont drink but the chippy is a must if you're coming here for the day. You must have been there a fair while. Nice work again. Steve
