Something so soothing about maintenance. Love the care you and your team take of the property! Even if people only notice subconsciously, it makes a big difference. It's why Disney was fanatical about cleanliness, gum, trash, not having staff out of character front of house, etc.

Anyone notice the the stop motion animation of the trash moving around. I'm sure it was just the wind and the time lapsing of the camera that was doing it. But still, it look kinda cool.

the wall is Beautiful! one question though, how come one diddnt paint the "legs" between the inlet/outflow grates that make the waves? Aesthetic choice?

My concern with the holes is that gives water a place to get in behind the paint and be absorbed (a little) by the concrete, and over time break the bond of the paint to the concrete, resulting in peeling in a year or two. I'd suggest getting a car detailing paint spray gun from Harbor Freight for $20 or so, thin the paint you are using down to a sprayable consistency, and go along and spot spray where you need to to get paint in the holes. Probably shouldn't take any more time than the time for those two coats, and likely less. I know it is extra work, and I hate that as much as anybody does, but if I were in your place I'd do it. Using a detail gun you will have a fairly small spray pattern, so shouldn't have to be much concerned with overspray, except right along the edges. You can easily hand mask with a hunk of cardboard with a straight edge. I would personally be inclined to wear a paint mask if you have any wind in the area while painting, though I have to admit to painting quite a lot of scenery and sets without using a mask.

The difference here is that back wall is a structural part of the pump building, so it's a poured structure (and I bet THICK)... whereas the sides are a traditional swimming pool shotcrete sprayed application. It's odd though they didn't shotcrete the face of the back wall when the place was built; it would have produced a uniform surface all the wall around. I guess they were concerned it would spall off over time. You could still get that kind of uniform surface today, but it would be hellishly expensive and time consuming as you'd have to clean the surface down to stone, then epoxy coat it, and polish to a smooth surface.
@thepoolguy2 жыл бұрын
Great observation. Not sure why I didn't think about the back wall structurally. But your right. Also, I agree about the spalling

Hello, a question, when should I measure the overflow gutter? The pool in my town has a perimeter gutter that is between 87cm and 1.15m deep, and when there is water and people make waves, they make a very loud sound when the water falls but it doesn't bother...

So random question, Why are all pools blue? Just curious.
@LakeNipissing2 жыл бұрын
Not always. I thought the huge outdoor 50 meter L-shaped pool with a diving well in Niagara Falls, NY where I have been swimming and diving would be blue because it sure looks that way when filled with water, but when I saw it drained and empty it is actually white with black tiles for the lines. The water makes it look blue!
@NUTTER82912 жыл бұрын
DAM FELLA that looks SOOOOOOOO much better !!! so what your saying is that when that back wall was made they used form work and then filled the void with concert ?? If that's the case they didn't do a very good job vibrating it or you wouldn't have had any holes !! Probably the only way your going to fill them is with another skim over the top ?
@thepoolguy2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Stevo you are correct. They didn't vibrate enough.
@TheDrew20222 жыл бұрын
@@thepoolguy They didn't, but even the best vibration won't get rid off all the trapped bubbles. Local pool was done using cast and had bubbles like that. They found over time the latex(?) pool paint they used filled in those holes. Their policy was to repaint every couple months during the season, and at the end of the season, strip down to bare concrete. Over a few years the paint filled the voids so only time you see the voids are when the paint is stripped entirely, you see pretty blue dots all over.

If you want to fill in those spots on the wall, you may try this technique from Essential Craftsman kzbin.info/www/bejne/rouogGyhg991qNE
