Nice vid- things to add, everything on a Yamaha is metric. I wouldn’t use grease inside your cooling system. For the -o-rings it’s ok but for the impeller no. Instead just use a little soap. That way you don’t get any grease build up in your cooling system inside the motor.

As crazy as it sounds I use spray cooking oil, doesn’t hurt the o-rings like fuel or grease can, and water washes it away

Great video, everything went pretty smooth on disassemble and reassemble. Water came out right away once the hose turned on. Tried the shift and it would not go forward or reverse. When I slid the housing back in it I twisted it a little it went to about a 1/4"-1/2" from being flat up against the upper unit. Then bolted it in place. I guess I'll pull it apart and try it again.

How did you know your pump was going out on you? New to boating and I am at 300 hours on my 90 hp Yamaha.
@exoman Жыл бұрын
As I recall, it had slowed or stopped circulating. Just watch that port where the circulating (engine cooling) water shoots out from the side of your motor. If the motor is running it needs to always be coming out or there. Best to you!

What a crappy design by Yamaha. That metal collar won't come off the plastic for me. That part should have come in the kit because it probably seizes a lot. Thanks Yamaha for such a dumb design. I suggest before you start that you also buy a new collar kit in case it's needed. Better to have on hand than wait for days with your lower unit apart. Also if the collar is taking more than 5 min to remove, cut it off with a hacksaw.
