I read that the two reservoirs where approximatley 20% full when the water was released, and the volume released lowered the fill to about 18%. So not tragic. But there is not enough snowpack for the reservoirs to fill fully and all reservoir storage right holders to be made whole. It may snow more, and hopefully this won't cause a problem in the later summer. Did Trump know he wasted water? Who knows. But is shows that a photo-op for a tweet that sent downstream river managers and irrigation district personell scrambling, and a few sentences for the news camera that mischaracterize essentially everything about the release, take priority over the real concerns of farmers and water managers.
