If you set the checkpoint to vacancy only, then the dupes will only enter the base via that route if there is an empty dock to store their suit.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
I never noticed that, thanks!
@xarzneimittel82202 жыл бұрын
Every time I tried that, they still went there and the exosuit would lay on the ground 🥺
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
It's confusing, when the button says vacancy, you have to click it, you see what you change it into, not what it is.
@justinhill64182 жыл бұрын
If you click on the dock, the status panel will show you what the current allowed clearance is, and I think by default it is set to Always. If you click to change the clearance, the old clearance becomes grayed out and the new clearance will appear beneath it. There may be a mod that sets it to vacancy only by default.

Don't forget a cycle timer on the incubator to save some power, the rancher will still come by when it is on to hug the egg and speed up the hatching. Great stuff!
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
How long does it need to be turned on for?
@EddBleach2 жыл бұрын
@@Nathans-Sandbox I normally set the incubators so they're on for 15% of the day each. If you set a higher priority for them, the ranchers are always able to lullaby the eggs. If they're not able to get to them in time, anywhere up to 25% should be good.
@h00leefuk2 жыл бұрын
Green - 150 ; Red - 450, worked for me when I was getting the carnivore achievement. Maybe crank up the priority on the incubator to 9 so the rancher will be huging the egg whenever possible

HI! For vacuuming areas out, you definitely don't want to dig them first. Yes gasses diffuse slowly but you just use the same amount of pumps you'd use on a large area. You reach vacuum super fast if each pump has small area to take care of. It's even faster if you start pumps staggered by 1/4 of a cycle or something like that, starting from the central area (the reason why that happens is that nothing replaces the gas in the central area, so it vacuums out. Vacuum itself deletes small packets.) In your specific case, moving the corridor up by digging one row of tiles on the ceiling while building one row on the floor would have been even much faster, but that also depends on how many dups you have of course. Once the area you want to vacuum out is completely covered in tiles, you just build the lock and start digging/deconstructing behind it. You had a single problematic tile, the small volcano one. But you have already water around, you just let a drop of water in there and then you can seal it up completely. Once you dig back in, you just mop the water (and remove it).

If you want to save a bit of power you could hook the incubator to a cycle sensor. The lullaby buff stays for a while cycle so all you have to do is set it to a time when your rancher is awake.
@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын
How long?
@Organigami2 жыл бұрын
@@Nathans-Sandbox the buff stays for a whole cycle. The cycle timer might need some adjustment to account for travel time, but setting it to stay on for 20% of a cycle should be way more than enough, if the rancher is awake and has priority for the incubator.

Hey Nathan. About the steam vent contraption. I believe it is better to have a cooling loop dedicated for the steam, and another to cool down the water quickly. That way the the cool loop doesn’t warm up before it reaches the water and thus it changes quickly.

Nice to see another series, Nathan :-) Small tip from me - for end game storage consider vicinity of Printing pod. As Pod is something which will never move, you can count with area around it as not changing during the game. For example I always built my gas storages there... Only exception would be if you consider Pod part of future living module etc.

Hey Nathan, just a tip, when there is only a tile of gas inside a place where you don't want it (like on 15:44), you can delete it by constructing and deconstructing a tile directly in the place of the gas, this also works in many other situations to "delete" a different blob of gas

If you want to have multiple exits out of the base an merge your outside areas without messing with the suits at wrong docks you can use door restrictions for dups. So every dup basicly has his own exit/entrance and suit. :)

@Nathans-Sandbox2 жыл бұрын

@angoooooooo2 жыл бұрын
It seems you actually have more chill than you have things to chill it with. When I sent this originally it looked like you wouldn’t be able to chill the steam vent output water. So I was thinking pump the water from the steam vent room at 50 into the liquid storage tank room, then pump out of that room at the 25, but it all evened out quite well over time, it is unnecessary now.

Nathan, Let me start by saying I think your video's are awesome. You really know this game well. A question though. The cellar area... Why are you digging it out before you turn it into a vacuum? Wouldn't it be more efficient to suck out all the air first, then dig it out?
