Fact. It really stands on its own in the band’s catalog.

this version is pretty good but those live versions from '70 and '71 are really really good

Yup. Naked eye and water live are better than the studio versions.

Thanks to Nelson Manfella. I never heard studio versions of "Water," "Naked Eye," "Young Man Blues," or "Summertime Blues" before. They are great and I thank you for posting them. BRAVO!

Only The Who could get away with fourteen unaccompanied bass drum kicks. Fav Who tune.

Naked Eye and Water are brilliant. Beyond me why Naked Eye studio wasn't released in '71? I have the live version. Where does Water originate from, too? I don't have it studio wise on my Who's Next, though i have a live one.

Read somewhere that this was recoded in some session in 1970 (despite the later release date, which might've had to do with it being the B side to 5:15).

The studio take of "Water" is on the CD version of "Odds and Sods" - a must-have for any Who fan!

They performed Water live at the Isle of Wight Festival. You can find it on KZbin. Extraordinary performance.
