This has inspired me to get out of the office & explore the banks of the Wye more this year. With this on my doorstep it's a crime not to take advantage of it.🙂

Dave really enjoyed the stick float blog last week looked like a quality roach a chuck in the end. I can’t understand why the bits weren’t taking the maggots like they would be in summer why are they not feeding ?

I believe bits are sat in tighter shoals down towards the town. The colder it gets, the tighter they sit, leaving just the quality fish behind. 👍

Great vlog as always, where exactly on the Wye is that? Looks very wide

Just above Witney. It’s an interesting confluence/backwater and is the widest part of the Wye I’ve fished.

Keep saying it as you see it Dave. I think a lifetime on the river qualifies you to have an opinion more than most keyboard warriors. No doubt it’s complicated but (civilised) debate is important to give oxygen to different ideas.

Nice video, plenty of common sense as usual.

Can't help but wonder if the whole "dog digging holes" thing is something to do with a career choice, you know a barkeologist, or some thing.....😁😁😁.

Yeah but ! How native are salmon to the river wye , compared to Scotland! & barbel aren’t native to the wye either ! U sound like u are slightly bias to being a “ taff “ !
@anglingescapadeswithdavero236310 ай бұрын
Sorry, I don’t understand your point about native salmon and barbel? What do you mean biased to being ‘taff’?
@Marco-mg9tv10 ай бұрын
Are you actually suggesting salmon are not an indigenous Wye species? I’m told barbel are not and were introduced in the 50’s . There are some that suggest they are one of the causes of decline in the wye salmon population but I for one don’t agree with that.
@anglingescapadeswithdavero236310 ай бұрын
Marco. I can’t see where I’ve suggested that? Salmon have been in the river since anyone cared to record it. Barbel were introduced in the 70s and spread throughout the system like wildfire. And yes, the fast spread of the Barbel coincided with a rather sudden decline in salmon numbers. Something that should has never been explored properly in my opinion.👍

Dave it was “Kinsley” above who suggested wye salmon are not native , or as native as Scottish rivers. However judging by the rest of his post not sure why I bothered replying to it !

Apologies Marco. I was confused too! 😂 I’m more concerned about the ‘Taff’ comment! 😬
