Let me know if you have tried any of the method discussed above. Which method is easiest for you to pick up? Do you have any other way to keep yourself afloat? Cheers....
@inx18193 жыл бұрын
the easiest is the bicycle kick but it's not good. the one i do when I'm in a relatively shallow pool is I simply go down and jump off the floor and take a breath on the surface, it's not tiring and also fun to do.

I've been learning as a new swimmer off and on during the various lockdowns and I can tread water for 3 minutes now! So proud of myself, especially as I've almost drowned multiple times in my life and had a fear of being out of my depth. I figure of 8 with my hands and vertical breast stroke with my feet. Could never coordinate with that last foot action, but I'll give it a try now that I'm better at it. I've also realised that when I go slow and don't panic, just feel the water supporting you, you use a lot less energy and can breathe almost normally, even as an asthmatic. Thanks for the tips.

@taurian5512 жыл бұрын
Same happened with me in childhood when my friend saved me from drowning in his pool. But that was because of my stupidity to dive into a pool with open mouth underwater and then panicking, drinking water. Now I'm 40, went to a lake's beach end, relaxed and floated suddenly, pushed myself forward and viola....learnt swimming on my own. Swam underwater in shallow waters for a good distance. All through I just stayed very calm and relaxed. Treading in deep water is something that excites me more but I will take it one step at a time. Make sure to have at least 1-2 swimmers with you and take all necessary safety precautions in advance.

I had never learnt swimming. Couple months ago my kayak flipped over in a deep lake. While I had a life-vest, it was not tied properly. As such I was floating sideways and had much trouble with breathing. Luckily I had a few friends around who helped me out and dragged me to the shore. Since then I had developed a strong fear towards water. However, I wish to overcome this fear by finally learning how to swim, in order to survive and possibly enjoy the waters. If you can explain how to +show the movement slowly (for a longer period of time) the figure 8 arm movement (sculling) and the "egg beater" movement of the legs, instead of just saying it and briefly do it in the water.; then it would help more. Because with a longer slow visual of the movement, the learner can better immitate and replicate what you are teaching. Thank you.🙏

I have been learning swimming for roughly 1.5 months now (through coach, in a batch of 20-25 people) and the coach is trying to teach us to stay at one place in water in between swimming from one end to the other. This is specifically tough for me and I am stuck at this point, as I am 5 ft and the most shallow end of the pool is 5.5 ft, so I get scared when I try to stop moving forward in water and then I eventually start going down and drown a bit, although slowly. I'll try implementing this method when I am in the pool tomorrow.

how teach me sempai. Does it come with time or is it just technique? Or is is breathe control that's most important? My experience swimming below. I know how to swim, but I'm not super confident in my skill at the beach yet. Today I lost my breathe control after a wave hit me and my feet couldn't touch the ground, I tried to tread water but my strength seemed to fail me and my breathe grew even more erratic, I had to retreat by swimming back to shore before I lost all strength and drowned. I think it was the fact that I had been swimming without breathing that led me to panic. I was short on breathe and that led to me sinking, I also felt weaker because it was just post a swim without oxygen which exhausted my muscles. I took a break at the shore, then once the air had gotten to my muscles, I returned to the water with a focus on breathe and didn't hyperventilate again. But still. I can't imagine treading water for hours. Maybe in calm water. Lessons: When swimming , breathe constantly, just as if you were still on water. Don't try and tread water when your muscles feel fatigued. Don't try and tread water when you are hyperventilating and struggle to intake oxygen.
