As an it pro and future reef keeper i am excited for thic topic! 👍

good idea, i did the same thing, however; between the warm components and moisture in the area, it doesn't hold for long. I'd try to get some type of build shelf that you can screw into thats self supporting inside the sump area

I've considered moving all electronics outside of the tank in a small shallow controller box against the wall.

Thank you!! Definitely opened my eyes to the work I needed to do with my cables. Kind of just threw them around and made me realize that it makes the whole setup even more appealing.

looks good! big difference. Personally, i'm not a big fan of cable ties, but use velcro strips instead. Put the strips one directions and you can use them to stick to the same piece you use on the bricks. nice work, Jeff!

Probably worth mentioning "drip loops". Allowing a cord to loop down, then back up. Means if water gets on the cord it drips down and drops down rather than into something potentially dangerous.

Awesome clean job ... my only question would be .. water and humidity would break down the glue and they would eventually fall off ... have you experienced this ?

If you were going to put a refugium in here... how exactly would you go about it? Is there enough room in the middle sump compartment, with the skimmer?

Looks good. Other thing you can do is get wire loom to run a bunch if wires through it.

I love your videos and have learned a lot from them. I would skip the tips on this one though. Velcro and dubbele sided tape are the least reliable methods imo. And if you still have your controlers stuck above your sump this way, I would strongly recommend you to take some extra measures before they fall in to your sump. Cut a wooden board in size, attach all your cables and controllers on it with screws or zip ties, and then place that board(control panel) in your cabinet, against the left wall e.g. You could then use Velcro to attach the board to your cabinet. Since there will be no downward(Gravity) force on the vertically attached Velcro, it will hold forever.

I just finished binge watching your series on the Waterbox 70.3. Subscribed. Really nicely done and gave me a lot of ideas of what to do for my first SW tank. I really wanted to get into this hobby on the cheap (Coralife Biocube 32) and see where it would lead, but I saw a Waterbox tank on a forum and fell in luv with the looks and quality. I'm looking at the 35.1 or the 45.2. Having a sump system is really the way to go, as it gives me so many more possibilities--especially with marine life. I'm going to price out the equipment I'll need for the 45.2 and see if I can swallow that price. Really interested in what your thoughts are about the lights that came with the system. I know you were having thoughts about changing them. I wonder if I can do better at a cheaper price or if I should go with the plus package and pay the additional $200. Nice job cleaning up the cables. The one thing I would think about doing, now that I've see your layout, is putting a power strip on each side of the cabinet instead on being together. That way whatever needs to be powered on the right side doesn't have to cross all the way over to the left side and vice versa. Thanks again for taking the time to put this video series together. It was a tremendous help.

On the AI primes I just needed to do more research and learn how to use them. I would go as far to recommend them now. Solid little LED. I like your idea with the power strips. Wish I would have thought of that. You will not be disappointed with Waterbox aquariums.

@@MadHattersReef … thanks for taking the time to reply, Jeff. I know ur bz. I thought I would update my OP. Instead of the 35.1 or 45.2, I am now up to the 60.2. LOL I am hitting the buy button on Monday, so i am hoping my choice doesn't evolve to the 70.3 by then. :) I'm outfitting this tank with the Varios 2 return pump, RO Octo pulse 2 wave pump, Tunze Osmolator universal 3155 ATO, AI HD prime lighting, and I haven't decided on my filtration system. The protein skimmer has been the most difficult for me to figure out. I believe I am going to go with the Bubble Magus curve 5 elite ( I did see your video on it), coupled with a Nyos Torq 1.0 Media Reactor. I hope that is going to be enough filtration, along with the sock that's in the sump for what i am doing. The idea is to have a mixed reef with soft corals, some LPS, and fish. It's still a work in progress. We'll see where i end and how many mistakes i make before getting it right. Hopefully, with information like yours and others, I'll limit my mistakes. thanks again and cheers!

The velcro over time will dry out do to the heat of the power brick. Then I will fall of the wall. I use to do that at work. Worked for 1 or 2 years. I now use zip ties with the small hole in them. Screw them into the walls. Takes more work last longer.

Looks a lot better. Are those smart power strips in the back? So you can control each outlet with an app on your phone.
