Watercolor Backgrounds for BEGINNERS #5 (EASY Suggestion of Water)

Painting water as a watercolor background is quite challenging. In this video I share how to paint just a suggestion.
This works well if there is a main subject where you want the viewers' focus to be. In the case of this Swan, it was ideal, as the vibrant blues and greys in the background really set the bird's feathers off. You have to work quickly, or you will end up with thicker areas of paint which won't look right within this soft background.

Do you stretch your paper? If not, why?

I do and I don't Dorothy. For example, most of the time I use a block pad so it doesn't need stretching. I only stretch paper when I need an odd sized sheet. 😁
