I just looked at all 135 days of your journal ideas. tho i should practice all, some I won't do cuz I'd never paint that pic as a card front, but I jotted down each day # that I WILL put in my journal: that's a huge help that you demo so many for us to practice! thanks so much. [love your easy & explanatory style!!]

Thanks, Shana. This was a great lesson. You explain things as you do them, and that always adds a whole other layer of understanding. Learning the concept of "values" is difficult especially as you hear other people use the word incorrectly. We forget that every tutorial on KZbin is not the gospel truth. Thanks for being one of those content creators on whom we can rely.

Thanks for watching Angie! I’m guilty of slipping with art terms too! But I try to make it make sense for y’all. 😁

A really fun and informative tutorial. Your imaginative talent and skill are so super and appreciated. Favorite flower - milkweed (genus Asclepias), especially the orange-flowered one native to the southeastern US. The structure of those flowers is fairly complex and difficult to photograph. My guess is that you will find a straightforward means to paint the essence of those flowers. Thank you.

I too LOVE flowers. Primroses, forget me nots, red poppies, snowdrops, peonies, bluebells, heliotrope, David Austin Rose's are just a few of my faves. I was 5 years old when I drew and coloured a sunflower; another favorite.

Lovely tutorial and very relaxing to follow along. It's important to be relaxed and just doodle so thankyou for demonstrating that side. I'm so enjoying your teaching and have started a painting journal and a notebook. Am going over the colour mixing currently. I do love how white paper shows the light from the colours so these washes are great. You are my watercolour guru!!!

Hi Shana, I'm working on being a more confident artist with Art with Ms. B [YT], she has these positive affirmations with her art teachings that have helped, like your channel. Recent favorite flowers are the Red Poppy and Red Carnations, but it's February so it will change soon. My mom is also a good Gardner, I think it skipped a generation or I just didn't try it yet. It's a lot raising 4 littles, I'm sure you can relate. Thank you for the lesson. I do learn a lot and I appreciate your time so much. 🙏🏼 Shout out to my Brother-in-law's, it's his birthday on Superbowl Sunday fun day. 🎉 My sister is so blessed to be married to him. ❤🎉

I am a big fan of leaves, but some of my male friends would not appreciate the "flower-like" cards I think. What would you suggest to make these a bit more masculine? Geometric patterns maybe? Zentangle patterns? thank you.
@shanacirce26672 ай бұрын
Those are great suggestions for a less flowery version. Whatever you like to doodle could work nicely.

I very much appreciated the "values" instruction. can you tell me in layman's terms what the difference is between shades and values? I think I might have said from top to bottom these went from darker shade to lighter shade, so I'm curious the difference. Thank you.
@shanacirce26672 ай бұрын
Technically a shade is a darker version of a color by mixing it with black. In watercolor we add more water to make it lighter but we and less water to make a color darker (or more concentrated) Here, I was just referring to the fact that it was darker or more concentrated pigment but I don’t actually mix it with black so I probably should have just said darker value rather than shade. Sorry if that was more confusing than helpful.
@timh72462 ай бұрын
that's perfect & I understand: The black for darker shade / more water for lighter value will help me keep it straight in my mind i think. Thanks!
