Thats a very beautifull composition - becoming in the final version a celebration of organic patterns of these wonderfull blue and violet colors and starting so simple looking more like a drawing - painting with watercolor. Its truly a very clear explanation of your technique and very inspiring - I have not been painting with watercolor since I was a child - I feel attracted even if I normally paint with Acrylics and oil

Instant fan! I really love the way you teach, even though there's no underneath pencil drawing I think this is a fabulous way of teaching just learning to draw with your paint brush. Although this lesson might not be for beginners but it's perfect for people who are intermediate or have been painting for around 3 years like myself it's just perfect. I special love learning to paint new orchids, and this one looks like a dendrobium type maybe you can confirm that or not. I noticed you had the question about whether it's called a lip I believe that's what you said. I've heard lip and the professional world which in Latin would be c h i l o, but I have more often heard it called as a tongue which in Latin would be call, glosso. Thank you so much for putting this tutorial out. I sincerely look forward to Future lessons from you. You have made an instant fan. Again, thank you so very much and have a blessed day. Thank you for taking your time to teach us something wonderful and beautiful nonetheless

Thank you so much for your feedback James 😊 I really appreciate your knowledge about the flower itself! I am working on another orchid for this weekends video (still don’t know what it’s called, kind of a Violet + Green with large pink petal in the centre). What resources would you recommend to learn specifically about orchid classification? Simple google search didn’t work for me 🤦🏻♀️

I very much appreciate your style of painting. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately, and I have a couple of questions. I see that you didn’t use a lot of paint, and you added some water, but not really “a lot.” I’m guessing that you are wetting your brush before you dip back into your wash. How wet are you getting your brush? Are you patting it on a paper towel first? Do you ever have hard edges? I don’t always see you blending as you add more layers, but I don’t really see a hard edge. I’m interested in your Patreon channel, and I’m wondering if you provide more “basic” information on your painting style. I’m actually not a “beginner,” but I’m having trouble stepping up to the intermediate level consistently.

When I am meditating or receiving Reiki I see the colours you see, and since my son died, they are very vivid....he is with me a lot, a conduit to the spirit realm. But the fact that you didn't see green....green is the heart chakra, and perhaps there was someone or something you loved anchoring you to this realm, and why you returned from your near death experience. Glad you are here!

Thank you Isabelle! 💙 of course - sketch the outlines lightly using 2H or 3H pencil to keep the graphite marks light . This way you will avoid smudges and can easily erase excess marks if necessary. Stay away from soft pencils marked 2B or higher.

Nice tutorial, but the stress is to do the sketch of the flower on the paper first.
@changemymind063 жыл бұрын
Print the photo out from her link and use a transfer paper (or make your own) to transfer onto the WC paper. The graphite on Saral's transfer paper is pretty soft so you can easily lift it with a kneadable eraser if needed. If you can't print the photo, do a sketch on regular paper from the photo. Then proceed to transfer. Hope this helps! I do the 2nd option all the time because printer ink is EXPENSIVE!

For everyone who wants a line drawing...draw your own from her photo link. It makes a huge difference when you go to paint the piece. Drawing is just as important as the painting part. Or trace the photo and transfer it. But drawing it yourself will train your eye and teach to form.

I have all the colours except gold ochre. Would quinacridone gold be an appropriate substitute, or would something lighter like an Indian yellow be better? Thank you for this beginner level tutorial. I’m looking forward to trying it.
@AnnaBucciarelli3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anita! Tank you so much ❤️ You could use quin gold (but very diluted). But if I were to choose all over, not from this limited W&N palette, I would go with a more mellow warm yellow, for example Hansa yellow. Enjoy!
