I LOVE seeing all of these swatch comparisons from different brands. As a new artist on a budget, that is giving me a wealth of info. Thanks! I would watch videos just showing the groups of swatches and how they compare, you don't usually see them all side by side like that. Edit- yeaaaah, I definitely want to see all of them, just spent several minutes slow motion freeze framing and neck craning to catch a glimpse of the names on some of cards that caught my eye as you sorted through them. 😅

As a crystal lover and collector, I love the primateks because I have all these gems and stones in my home so it’s fun to have them in watercolor form too

I remember when I first got this set years ago I was so blown away, and now I have so many granulating watercolors between this brand and white nights and Schmincke just in love with them.

Very helpful! Yes, I could see the shimmer in the amethyst. Your comparisons are helpful as I am deciding which paints to add to my palette. (Love the music too!)

The comparisons are especially useful. Your photography and close ups are top notch, and that is very important in painting instruction. I don't have any of the collection, and I need more paint like I need another T shirt or more shoes 😀. There is no pigment info listed for those, and I cannot seem to find out why, so that has me cautious, also. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talent!

Apologies for being a blot on otherwise interesting and fun watercolors, but there has been controversy about these paints. You can search for it right here on KZbin and the internet in general.

@@shadowguard3578 Hi there! I've definitely seen that the Primateks have seen their share of criticism for various reasons. Compared to other more traditional pigments, they definitely don't share the same pedigree if you're more of a purist and thus it's a bit of a science and art experiment. Personally, I love the aspect of play and discovery in these but realize that it's not for everyone. It's like an unexpected and slightly dangerous looking item on the menu at a fancy restaurant 😉

@@Pointebrush hello Margot ☺️. The way you describe Primatek as ‘an unexpected and slightly dangerous looking item on the menu at a fancy restaurant’ made me immediately think of blowfish! The first time I was interested in Daniel Smith watercolors I was very intrigued by the Primatek range, but after doing some research I decided not to buy any. However you’re right, I’m not strictly a pigment purist and once my no buy art supply is over (I’ve only just started for one month and I’m aiming to stretch it until November), then I might try one tube as an art and science experiment. I was very interested in Fuchsite Genuine because it has a natural sparkling quality to it. Anyway, thanks!

i think the fact that it does not go so dark might be good for those just beginning to learn art like me since i’ve recently learnt that in watercolour you have to start light and then build. Lovely video as always! I’m always excited when I see a KZbin notification from your channel ❤️ edit: i’ve made the mistake of starting off too dark sometimes and then in the end it looks very dull as compared to staring lighter!
@Pointebrush2 жыл бұрын
Yessss! Sounds like you're on to one of they key things with watercolor which is to build with layers! You'll find that the more you do that, the more your paintings will come alive in a wonderful and dimensional way!

I just love listening to your descriptions of colors. You should be receiving commissions from the Monsignors Daniel Smith.(or at least free paints for life!) I would be delighted to speak to them on your behalf. I’m sure they would want to hear what I have to say!❣️🙏🖖🤭

In the videos I've watched about swatching colors you seem to comment on all of the unique characteristics of each one; such as light fastness, granulation, opacity, etc. and I haven't noticed you adding this to the back of the swatch cards. How do you keep track or do you just know it from years of experience?

May I ask two questions: 1. Which color base is you Canvas lamp. Is it walnut? I was thinking about ordering one and Like the color of your canvas lamp base. 2. Which size do you make your swatch cards? Thank you so much, I loved your brush holder advice and bought the day one flat brush/soap holder.

I love these swatch videos. Art is one of my favorite things. But also gaming. I love the 2 so much, I one day wanna create a future business and several YT Channels. My favorite gaming franchise is Mario Kart. I sometimes even draw ideas of Mario Kart Custom Track Ideas. But I have a question Do you know anywhere where I can create a custom Daniel Smith watercolor set for them to sell? Have a good one!

@@Pointebrush thank you so much for making your watercolor videos! Now, I'm so sorry to say, but I ment one day having multiple chanel's for art and gaming, exct. My favorite Mario Kart game is Wii. It is pretty broken. For example, how about a 5 second lap on Grumble Volcano!? When I start getting WRs, I wanna get 64/64 possible WRs, 32 Ultra, and 32 No Ultra WRs. And nothing will stop me from getting my very, VERY unrealistic goals. I have a question Do you know how I can contact Daniel Smith to make a custom set with them to sell like these sets? If I can make a custom set with Daniel Smith, it would include watercolor sticks Watercolor Pans Watercolor Tubes A few gouache for finished results The colors would be a mix from Extra Fine, PrimaTek, and Luminescent If not, that's ok. Do your kids play Mario Kart? If so, which one? If you don't know, what are some track names? Keep Creating Amazing Art! Sincerely, Louis Wolfe

Thank you for this video 😊 I liked that you compared the colors to other colors in your collection. I just have a question… I noticed that the paint seemed to get streaky when you painted with them. I know that this video is made some time ago. Can I ask you what your experience is with them now? How do they flow when you paint with them?

I never do swatches but after watching you I have decided that I really need to do this to help me. What size cards are you making? This is such a good idea
@Pointebrush2 жыл бұрын
I’m glad it inspired you to make your own! Mine are 2” x 3” but you could do business card size or even smaller. I find it helpful to find a storage/organization solution first (box vs album vs other solutions, see other peoples comments for ideas 😉 ) and then work backwards to size so that once you’re done, you have the perfect setup. Thanks for watching!! 💕
