It's hard to really do something even when you're passionate about it since it has more drawbacks than the amount of joy you can get. The creative burnout is real since you tube wants more content than ever (since shorts). This is the bane of a modern artist and I wonder how artists are centuries ago since they create 1 painting in 4 years but they are still well-received. We artists don't even have a separate category in our customized video details (I put my vids under entertainment or how to). I can only hope that you tube will appreciate artist content creators.

I almost fainted when you mentioned my name, thank you so so much! You're really my biggest inspirations right now, I'd even say a reason to come back to KZbin, because the way you create gives me hope that you can be successful with sharing your passion without using pushy marketing tactics. (I'm watching this video long after it was published, I wasn't really around KZbin much for the past year, but still this improved my spirits.) I love this piece and every piece of yours, thank you again for talking about all of this ♥

You showed me that I don’t need to be afraid of high pigmentation on watercolor- my biggest struggle is that I see the color when wet as the color when it will dry and I end up with muted and flat colors in my paintings. I’m going to experiment now ❤️

Going in so dark immediately with the face...so inspiring. Thanks for posting. I struggle with skin tones, I love painting people so I really appreciate people like yourself posting these videos. I only paint for fun/art therapy (I have CPTSD) but I still want to paint well, I just absolutely love watercolour

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. A young lady who can paint like this! I think youtube is utterly amazing. They have given us, you and I, the opportunity to learn from each other, to take encouragement when we are weak in faith, and to be proud of our achievements even though we never leave the house. My story is a simple one. I am no artist. I am working on it every day and breaking down walls I never thought possible. You, my lovely lady, are so fortunate. You are extremely gifted, with the opportunity to reach as far as you can dream. I joined youtube in 2010, I did it in a public library, using KZbin videos to help me understand the internet, how to use my computer, how to develop my photography, and to learn the fundamentals of editing etc. I have never earned a copper cent from being a KZbin member. Don't really care to. The fact you can is great, really great in fact. But the real truth is, I love the connection to knowledge and others who upload information and tutorials on what is important to them that is so wonderfully beautiful. I am sorry about your friend, but there are so many reasons in a person's life that can develop and interrupt progress. Money is usually the source of one's dilemma. Pride is another danger to our ambitions. But love and passion, aw...That is the key of life. Remain passionate in your work, and enjoy every day while there is a day. Night comes swiftly, and at my age, I am thankful for my time. ❤🙂🤟👍

Beautiful watercolor piece. And for sure, we all feel burnout and a desire to take a break from YT. This year I decided I would be a bit less active and try to balance the rest of my life and not just be consumed by working on my YT channel. One of my mine set goals is taking one vacation and four mini vacations in a year.

Beautiful portrait! Although the art community is smaller than others on KZbin I love how good everyone is to each other :) Being a self employed artist can be really hard, I agree. The way I manage is work hard to get into publishing and books, and now all my income comes from there :) It's a route I recommend - to get agented, and get into publishing. We sometimes work too hard but resting is important if you want to be able to do something you love full-time for the rest of your life - plus you won't believe the amount of supportive people you'll find around you! Stay bright, Ham, your art is a joy ❤️

Hello! Just wanted to say that I absolutely love your art and you inspired me to try to learn to use watercolors myself. I'm about to do my first portrait and I'm a tad nervous about it, so I'm watching this to calm my nerves and watch your technique. I'm really happy you're on KZbin and that you're so open about your experience as an artist and your painting process. Keep up the good work!

Whether you are or are not an artist, and I am, life is too heavy to not have art… Art is inspiration, art is catharsis, and art is how human souls create. I thoroughly enjoyed this video… Thank you :-)

I too really love Polina and her art style with watercolor. For me, it's about being inspired but not to the point that you lose yourself in trying to become that particular artist.

True! I like Hamrib’s artstyle that’s why I tried studying her techniques, but I don’t want to lose my own artstyle as well. Rather, I just want to incorporate the techniques I learned from her with my own. In that way I still have the style that’s innate in me. I also watch different artists with different styles so I can learn more about arts in general. Gathering ideas and mixing it together will give you a truest form of your style ❤

Beautiful watercolor portrait, Ham! This is a very important topic to discuss and I think the art 'community' needs to become more of an actual community. We all need to engage with each other more, share and discuss art more and build a real community. I recently watched a similar video by "Alpay Efe" he is a big art KZbinr too, his video "KZbin hates Artists and Creators and it's getting worse!" was a very good summary about what is going on. It also affects the photography community on KZbin. I stopped making videos and my channel almost got to 10k. YT stopped my reach and it was like talking in an echo chamber. I have been enjoying painting and drawing and am thinking about creating a channel, just because I love sharing and talking about the process, not so much tutorials and I agree with you completely that fostering the art community is the best way to approach it. Thank you for your wonderful channel, I know it is a lot of work putting videos together, I enjoy every one of yours. Much love from Texas! :D
@hambot Жыл бұрын
Hi Liesl! Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention! I watched the whole thing without skipping last night and honestly I’m a little bummed . I wish I had a more important thing to add to the conversation but right now I’m feeling a little bit down about it. It really is so hard to make a living out of youtube and although I want more people to join in, I now don’t know if it’s worth it for people to spend their time and energy here when I know it’s not that kind to the creative community
@LieslHuddleston Жыл бұрын
Try not to get too down and discouraged. 🤗You have a good thing going here on KZbin and you are inspiring many people with your personality and unique art channel. I know one thing, if you stop or take a break from KZbin or any social media your reach will definitely suffer when you try to come back. Stay creative and consistent with posting if you can. I think the world is in a general malaise because of everything we all went through in the last few years, and because of the big changes happening in creative industries. We have to all encourage each other, just like you're doing with your live streams and videos. Keep being yourself and doing things that make you happy and your channel and art community will keep growing. There are thousands of people watching your videos, and those that watch really love them! We will get through this upsetting time, it can't be on a downward trend forever. ✌🏼
@NezumiWorks Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about small art communities. I'm interested in coloured pencil, and possibly watercolour pencil, and it's extremely hard to find channels like yours that aren't specific tutorials. I want to find artists doing their art, and maybe talking about what they do, or things that interest them that maybe aren't directly related to technique. Those seem to be the rarest of the rare type of video, or at least the least likely to be picked up by a search on KZbin. It's quite frustrating.
@leilazerrouki7040 Жыл бұрын
I like those too, in makeup there's get ready with me, or play with makeup, and it's them just playing with it, exercising the art, talking about unrelated stuff. In art it's really rare... because KZbin likes review or tutorials. and the d**n shorts, I hate those I hide them and don't watch them
@NezumiWorks Жыл бұрын
@@leilazerrouki7040 I think it's more that the KZbin algorithm is set up to promote tutorial vids more than process vids, which I personally find a lot more valuable. So if you're going to make the numbers go up, artists are sort of forced to make certain things, whether they want to or not.

i really agree with u that art in youtube its not low but there areant that big acceptance , like u said that just artis who love to see and listen to a conversation of art color the way that the artis think and i really love that but for however the person who post the video or pic or anything like that in social media he/she really want that acceptance for other artis or people , so i just wana say that keep going cuz i adore ur vids so much and ur talking big love 🤍🤍

Nice portrait as ever. And I like also this music. About Payne's gray and Indigo watercolours, my experience is that they are very staining and struggling to use. But I got a quite good result when I painted the portrait of a ancient master of calligraphy. Maybe I was more inspired because of the relation with Indigo and China, I don't know.

Oh man... KZbin is realling killing artists... Ethan becker stopped, then jane beata... And then alpay efe started talking about it too. Honestly with how shorts are started to dominate youtube, longer videos aren't getting much attention and with art, you cant really post consistently or pump out content... I'm kinda sad with youtube rn
