Watercolor can be one of the simplest mediums to use, but it does seem to have a mind of its own at times, giving it the reputation of being fussy and unforgiving to work with.
In this 4 part workshop we get into the mind of watercolor and see what makes it tick. Success with watercolor depends greatly on discovering and anticipating how it reacts in real painting situations.
LESSON 4 - BOTANICAL ROSE PART 2
PAPER USED:
Strathmore 500 Series Gemini Watercolor: www.strathmoreartist.com/pain...
In lesson 4 of 4, Steve Mitchell finishes his botanical rose painting. He shows you all his tips and techniques along the way for finding success with watercolors.
If you missed Part 1 of the botanical rose painting, see it here: • Watercolor Rose Tutori...
Also check out Steve's first to video lessons where he shows how to paint a beautiful landscape:

Oh my...I just stumbled across this website and with you specifically. I have watched many leaf tutorials but I found your teaching wonderful. You describe everything you are doing. And suddenly i realized who you are. I recognized your voice!!!!! I came in with this video. I read some of the comments and saw they addressed you as Steve. Anyway thank you. Great job, Steve. Lovely simply lovely. I have been taking lessons on botanical watercolor with Billy Showell.

Your rose tutorial proved an excellent lesson, both thru your talk through and your magnificent glazing skills. I will use it in the future to further my own talent. May you have abundant blessings for your skill sharing. Thanks again!

This is a wonderful tutorial. I’ve learned especially not to hurry the process. I like the glazing technique and how to create variations in shadows. Thank you.

Another amazing lesson. Learning so much from watching. I have even started to "see" or "anticipate" what you will do next.. as far as shadows, lights .. etc... I get particularly excited when what "I" think needs to happen in the painting.. you actually do! Thanks again for all these awesome video tutorials! :)

Steve, this rose is absolutely beautiful! I love your style of painting. Nothing is ever repetitive, and you are such a good teacher!Thank you so much for these wonderful lessons. I would like to know more about you. Maybe you could tell us about your background in art and what types of art other than watercolors you like. Also, were you talented in art from the time you were a kid?
