In the painting I just finished today, I definitely missed the nuances! Thanks for this valuable lesson.

Light value to dark neutral / Light neutral to dark value This answered a lot of questions I've had for a long time. Thanks Liron.

Layering stages from abstract suggestions, loose impressionism, Implied realism or defined content like flavors of treats on the table.

Indeed they are! 😋

Light neutral- when the light almost creates a 'white out' of an object. So you have to 'dull it down' to see the actual colors and shadow. Great video as usual.

Yes! That feels right to me (: White out is a great way of describing it. Happy I could help, thank you for watching 😊🙏

The last painting I did is such a disaster. I flipped it over and swatches my blues and yellows to review the greens I get with them. Lesson learned is I need to add a few different yellows and stop using some yellows in my current plein air palette. My painting is now trashed to the recyclung bin.

That happens (: Painting is all about finding your own solution, and it sounds like you have for next time 💪

Yellow “compliments” green? 🤔
@LironYanАй бұрын
Compliments isn’t always used in the technical complimentary color sense (: Colors can compliment one another in different contexts

@@LironYan Thanks. I look forward to figuring out how that works.

The more I learn the more disheartened I get... 😕

I don't remember if and when I last felt it in art, but I definitely get it from time to time in other endeavors (when I tried Jiu Jitsu for example). I think art is more about experiencing than learning. The experience of painting is the learning. And not by force, or by getting "brush time". It's all in the QUALITY of allowing yourself to experience the art making. I hope you find your path 🙏

@@LironYan Thank you for that. I think you are saying that art is really in the process and a personal thing, and I would agree with that. The frustration I feel lies in the contradiction of learning by observing other artists and then having to let go and be myself on the page. For a while now, I have been focusing my attention on edges and transitions and I wish I never did, because the more I learn, the more I notice and the more difficult it gets to simplify. And then, you come along with your beautiful little shadows and I just want to give my watercolours away and go back to my charcoals... I've never had a disagreement with charcoal. Charcoal is like an easygoing child: it is compliant and easy going. Watercolour is unruly and mischievous: when you think you've got a handle on it, it goes on a tangent and does something you would never have thought of. 🤷

@@LironYan I meant to let you know that I have been steadily following you for a few years now and I have loved to witness your evolution. I particularly like the way you achieve both murkiness and clarity on the page: you create these beautiful clean zones that read so well next to muddy or stormy ones and make the overall picture so interesting. It is great story-telling in my opinion. 🙂
