I was very surprised at the fact you were able to create some texture with the crayolas in your final piece. I didn’t think those paints were capable of that. Great work.

Thank you so much! I was shocked too

Make the best with what you’ve got. You ever thought of teaching an art class? Would love to see you paint both a sunrise and a sunset, for color comparison. 🖼️🫶🏻

i would be interested if those cheap paints pigment got better after sitting longer wet. seen a review of temu paints where after being liberally sprayed/misted and left to sit 5 or 10 mins, the colour was better than using straight away.

thats interesting! Ill have to look into that

It’s interesting that color palette contributes to an artist’s style, I never thought about that. I think of style as being how it’s painted with brush strokes, and color is “what’s necessary” for the creation. When I look at these, crayola I find objectively “prettiest,” but I tend toward the bold colors. Your palette definitely says “Chris,” the field you made with that one looks like the cow, the chair, the deer. I always learn something watching you! Appreciate you taking the time to share! 🙏🏻🤍

As I have matured more as an artist I have noticed that a palette really says a lot about an artist! Color choices seem to be both personal and functional which I always find so interesting. Thanks for watching:)

I started painting with my son’s leftover kindergarten crayola paints, the included “brush” and index cards. I had so much fun that I started treating myself to new supplies. It’s been a few years now and I luckily can’t remember what it felt like not to have art in my life. 🙂

The "unknown" brand looks like it might be Jot, which is a brand that the Dollar Store will also occasionally use. I have a set of them, and they aren't great... but better than some other off-brands that I've come across. They blew the paints that came in a "travel set" out of the water, even when I used only slightly better paper than what came with it. I've had back and forth results with Crayola - sometimes they're great, other times... yeah. The one not-so-cheap-but-still-designed-for-kids brand that I have seen consistent results with has been Prang.

How come we only get crappy stuff in the USA for our kids what art and school supplies are concerned? Go see what the kids get in all of Europe, they have beautiful art and school supplies, ergonomic and durably beautiful things supplies. All we get in the stores here is crappy crayola, rose art and down the hill from there. And everything in cheap plastic no refills and nothing is environmentally friendly cause everything comes in double and triple plastic.

Cheap quality paints are bad enough, but dont ad bad paper too.

Cheap paper is really the end of it all. Cheap paints on arches paper looked decent, but cheap paint on cheap paper is a nightmare😂
