I’m watching this a day after your tenth book just came out (and I have it). I recently got this Woodlands book and when I saw this video title, decided to watch it. I love how you think outside the box! I would not have thought of doing that page this way. I love seeing the “artist’s take” on what was drawn. I learn something from every video of yours that I watch.

Your books and painting style are so enjoyable. I'm new to watercolor painting and truly enjoyed this tutorial. I now feel I can jump in and successfully complete a painting with out the fear of failure. Thank you so much for these beautiful books ( I have all of them) and sharing your talent.

Thank you for designing such a well thought out watercolor book. My first watercolor book was your Painterly Days Woodland which is my favorite. I have fallen in love with watercolor painting thanks to you. I have used your books to try different techniques and find my style of painting. This tutorial was very helpful as I am one of those people that have trouble with wet on wet painting. This page in your book I had wondered how to paint it. I was pleased to see how much water your watercolor paper can handle without buckling or color bleed through. Art is such a joy !!!!

Kristy, Thank you so much for giving license to paint and "play" as we did when we were kids; not worrying about lines and rules and right and wrong....just expressing and enJOYing!!! I am forever a fan of your art and even more of how you approach this medium!!! Hugs, Hugs, Hugs!!!

I just purchased 4 of your books. I can’t wait to get them and give it a try. I’m painting in my other coloring books and they are not handling it very well. That is why I had to purchase yours.

I have had an accident at work so I have been laid up for months now. Let’s just say I have been watching A LOT of videos. I came across ur books and videos, and I have fallen in love. I want to get ur books, they r beautiful. I am right handed and that’s where I had my accident.. I love the way u can just be abstract. Something I can try to do with my left hand lol. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

I love it! I have this book so I'm going to give it a try! 🙈 You make it look so effortlessly but you are so right when it comes to being an adult and being so critical of yourself and not just letting it go as you did when you were a child! Wish me luck! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us! Have a nice day!

Yes! We need to learn to shut off that adult voice in our heads! it's only paper and paint, go ahead and dive in! You should email me a peek of what you painted, would love to see!

Boy howdy! I slathered water on the page, started dabbing, thinned the paint on the brush, thinned some more, dabbed, slathered the next fern area, and so on. Had fun but discovered (and shouldn't have been surprised) that it's best for me to put a bit of color in my ceramic pallet and thin it a bit before using it to dab. There's virtually no lifting since the QoR paints stain so fast. I'm looking forward to doing the other side of the page mixing and thinning some colors first. So glad there wasn't any bleed-through to that side. Very fun!

Hi Kristi I have this book and a couple of the newer ones, love them for keeping me doing something on a daily basis building that muscle memory! In this book on back flap you displayed the paint you used originally called Kremer Watercolor Set 1. It shows 18 colors. I cannot find that anywhere including the Kremer site. Love the colors…have you found a set with similar colors? Thx!

Thank you for showing this as I must have just put to much water (worked it to much) from The Woodland one & my paper didn’t disintegrate but curled up badly but feel it could be my lack of experience but will try it again! Should I be taping mine down?
@KristyRice2 жыл бұрын
Taping can help but the tape could life some of the paper surface when removed. I’ve learned to live with paper curling during a session and flatten under a heavy book!

I know nothing about watercoloring. I love the look, but can't draw. So your books are so wonderful for us 'non-artists'. Now....now to learn how to color with watercolors. I'll be watching all your videos intensely. Already have the books you published, and pre-ordered the other ones. Thank you for any instructional videos you give us.

This was SUUUUPER inspiring! I'm still a bit scared of this page, but more about what colors to use than how to do it, but I can't wait to get my chores done so I can give it a try! And unlike many others I love the music you have in your videos (and that it's always the same), but maybe turn down the volume a teensy bit for those who find it distracting!

Thanks for the tutorial. I have the woodland book and am excited to paint that page now! Also I noticed the background music seemed to stop around 2:46 into the video. I, for one, am happy it stopped. It is difficult to concentrate on your voice with the background noise. I haven't finished the tutorial yet so I don't know if the music came back on. Just my 2 cents.
@KristyRice7 жыл бұрын
Hi Carole! You are very welcome! The music I use fades in and out so at times it does seem like it has stopped completely - I'm so sorry you found it distracting :( Thanks for letting me know though!

I’ve already bought like 3 different types of watercolor paper, some of it really expensive but I always end up getting wrinkled paper and when it dries I can’t get it to have a straight flat shape. What am I doing wrong?

I love this video.. great tips for us beginners. your music however is drowning out the instruction :( I have asked for two or three of your books for Christmas!! I feel like im too intimidated to sketch myself so this is a good starting point for me.

Hi Kristy, I bought the woodlands book a year ago and I'm sorry to say, that in my version it is NOT possible, to have the paper as wet as you show it. The water sucks immediately into the paper and takes the colors with like into blotting paper, it is NOT possible to move the colors around like you do in your video. I would love to do this, but ... sorry .... it is not.
@KristyRice7 жыл бұрын
Hi Caren. Oh no! This is so strange! I'm happy to send you a replacement book...? I receive my books from the same warehouse as everyone else so it makes me thing you have a defective book? My email is above, just send your address and I'll get a new book out to you.
@janetteaguirre-terry29866 жыл бұрын
Had the same problem. It was a bummer. 😩. I would love to do this and maybe just putting it through my copier and copy it on my watercolor paper. Is that ok? It’s for my personal use or I can use it for my Copic coloring and see how it takes to my alcohol markers. Thanks for sharing the video.
