You make it look so easy and achievable! (Easy no, achievable most definitely! ) It’s been about 45 years since I picked up a paint brush - life got in the way!- but during lockdown I started dabbling again and found myself really enjoying it. A sketchbook was such a good buy as it’s just a playful adventure without expectations. It’s just for me, just for fun, experimenting and learning and no one needs see it so it’s helped me get over the anxiety of ruining sheets of expensive paper. I can really recommend it as a good way to get going for anyone else just starting out. Another tip I learned is to just open it at random for each new sketch rather than setting myself up for disappointment by not improving in chronological order!! 😊 I really love your loose style, your paintings are beautiful and I learn so much from watching your tutorials . I look at your gorgeous sketches thinking I could never achieve something like that, but with your clear instructions I can give it my best shot! Some work out ok, some don’t , but every one is a step closer to something I will put a frame around! Thank you so much Karen !

Thank you so much Jaclin for you amazing comment. Great suggestion about starting out with sketchbooks, especially as a beginner and not painting in chronological order! I am all for taking the pressure off! So pleased you are enjoying the tutorials and you are right, practice really does pay off. Not every painting will be a success but you will be getting closer to the frame!!

Your watercolor painting of tulips is very beautiful, I rarely see abstract works of art. So I am very surprised with your work, the way you use watercolor is also very simple and skillful. Thank you for your sharing, your video is very helpful for newbies like me.

Karen, I love your style (loose and watery) and also your variety of ideas! You are also a good teacher with a pleasa t voice and quiet background music. I wished I could one day be as good as you are. Need to practice more! Keep going. Can we look again at daffodils, maybe with abstract background? Now I am attempting the tulips. Wish me luck. KARIN I

Karen. I'm impressed with Sennelier half pans as I've been using tubes of colour. Can these be removed and replaced with other colours? Always love your tutorials and suggest maybe to include our Scottish thistle as I don't remember you ever painting one apart from your Grass Thistles in Meadow. Many thanks.
@KarenRiceArt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Moira, they are lovely paints! You can replace them with other half pans, or squeeze in other tube paints. Thank you also for your lovely suggestion 😊
