Dear Emma, I started exploring and playing with your videos a couple of weeks ago. I am a retired high school principal who took way too many academic courses, and believe it or not, have never taken an art course. You are a natural teacher and I especially appreciate your clarity, encouragement, and ability to demonstrate with ease. Thank you for ALL of your videos! You are going places! Sincerely, Natalie

Emma - I have looked at a lot of beginner, watercolor channels, and you and Margot Hallac are by far my favorites! In fact, Margot Hallac had one of your videos in her playlist, and that’s how I came over to your channel to explore. I am really going to use it to do step-by-step beginning watercolor, so I don’t get frustrated and give up. Thank you so much for that. Thank you for your patience and your generosity sharing your talent.🎨👩‍🎨🙏💕✨

Thank you for showing this on cheaper paper and then again on 100% cotton. Blending has been so frustrating for me, but your video helped me see that part of it is the paper. I have some 100% cotton paper that I've been hesitant to use because I wanted to have better skills so as not to waste it, but this takes a lot of the pressure off!

Thank you Emma so much for your help in blending, I have been using less expensive paper because as I said, I just started. Now I know why EVERYTHING I have painted has been so difficult!!. I appreciate you showing us the difference good quality paper makes, it appears effortless. Something else to look forward to!!. ❤

Hi Emma, I loved these videos. I did the first video 3 times before the sky and water looked like sky and water. The part that I struggled with was getting the clouds. The first two times I couldn't get the clouds using the crumpled paper towel. The third time I washed with too much water but the sky and water definitely turned out better but I still couldn't get the paint to lift sufficiently. I continued anyway. I knew I had to be doing something right when my grandson, 6, told me he could see the sky, water and trees - because I wasn't sure that anybody would be able to see what I had painted. I would love to see more videos like this. Thank you.

I cut my Arches paper into four rectangles to practice without “wasting” paper. I’ve found that the difference between the papers is too great and I’d rather use the better one.

Thank you, dear Emma. I have been learning from you for over 2 years, and watching this series has shown me that I "AM" improving my technique. The quality of paper issue, still gets in my head when I am practicing because I judge my improvement by what I see as I create. You give such good reminders of what using better quality art supplies means. Keep creating and happy painting from Idaho USA 😃

I will never paint on cheap paper again. Too difficult to get the results I want. To cut down on the cost, I divide my paper into quarters to get 4 different painting options. That way I can make cards or do a painting series life seasons. Great demo by the way ❤️

I remember struggling with this in my high school art class. Like everything else I've since learned on KZbin, quality supplies matter. I upgraded my colored and graphite pencils, big improvement. Used up a few old Crayola watercolors and now have a proper brand. Ugraded all my paper, and I'm about finished with the older cheaper stuff, so I can move on. After a hiatus, it took me a while to realize I mixed media paper wasn't good enough, and I had watercolor paper in a box in the other room, lol. Accidents reteach the basics in a hurry at least.

Cellulose paper is awful for actual paintings. I forgot till I tried again recently. Paper is the first thing I tell people to upgrade. Paints you can get great student grade, brushes you can get good economical synthetic... paper not so much. I found a good middle ground is the fabriano fat pad, it is 25% cotton and works pretty well, but the price is good 20$ for 60 sheets. Thanks for this series, I have been painting for a while, but have been sharing it with more friends lately, so I am watching from thier perspective.

Thank you Emma. Question about paper. I’m still a beginner, better than Canson, not good enough for Arches. I have found paper that is 100% cotton foreign names 300 g m 140lb, and not as expensive. Should that be ok paper for learning? I’m not up to masterpieces yet.

Thanks a lot for this lovely series! 🤗 You have a nice way of explaining and such a calm and soothing voice 😍 I found your channel a few weeks ago, so Watercolor Week came at the perfect time for me. I am learning along with the series, the results I get are quite horrible 😅, but I have both cheap paper and no experience, hence I'm trying no to have a lot of expectations from me and enjoy it. I have one question: when I was doing the gradients I found that when trying to blend the colours the paper started to come off, as in it did not preserve its pattern, but tiny, tiny bits of paper were around the brush. Can this be because I had too much water on my brush when blending? Or I pressed too hard?
@EmmaLefebvre
@EmmaLefebvre Жыл бұрын
hi there! Oh that's odd. I've never had that happen. That could very well be the paper because that shouldn't happen. Could be that you were scrubbing it too hard? But I doubt it. What paper are you using?
