My favorite has been my 96 gtx, i just picked up a 2022 gtx 230 and while i love almost everything about it my 96 seemed to track so much better and felt much more solid. I wasnt worried about running it up rivers it was built like a tank and the steering response felt so much better.

The angle on the bow line that sucks in surf, do you think it might be there to help with acceleration on flat water to help break surface tension?

No, not at all.

Fantastic Video Man!! Love the technical explanations. The only positive thing I would see about a concave bow is cutting through chop head on (of if it was hitting from the tail), as the less surface area (compared to a GTI) would cut through the water better and not "push the ski up" (like a convex bow would). I see this would only apply for head and tail wind chop tho... ?

A concave bow has more surface area than a Deep-V hull. Run a fabric measuring tape long both and you'll see (it's not a lot of course, but it's more). And the concave hull creates a prominent bow which can "rudder" the nose.

@The Watercraft Journal thanks for your reply Kevin, much appreciated. Would love to see a similar video (under the hull view) on the PolyTech2 (GTI 170 SE) you have too. Would be good to have a rundown on how that hull looks/functions 👍👍 ps: Subscribed

Hey not saying your wrong at all, but if it's a negative feature what do you think is seadoos engineers rationale for shaping the angle on the bow that way? Am just about to purchase a rxpx300 but this has me allitle Concerned I hate skis which tend to walk when hit with cross chop or boat wake it's my my number 1 annoyance, which ski do you think is best at dealing with cross chop in the current line of Performance skis?

Why does Sea-Doo continue to use plastic wear rings? Or carbon seals? The answer is 1. the unwillingness to spend the extra money and 2. the inability to do something better. When Sea-Doo's head hull shaper died unexpectedly in 2014, Sea-Doo was left scrambling to fill the void. They couldn't. The hull of the ST3 is a failure in rough water at mid-to-high speeds (notice ZERO racers use it - literally ZERO). Equally, the RXP-X is a handful at these speeds, but slightly more manageable. That's because it's not very far from Sam Spade's original 2012 redesign. (Despite the marketing material, it's really not.) But then again, most folks just aren't going to ride it as hard as a racer or in equal conditions, so they'll think it's "fine." And for most folks who ride on flat water, it'll be great. A load of fun.

Thanks for getting back to me, understand exactly what you mean and agree whole heartedly With the inability to Improve certain things (carbon seal should be a non issue by now) tbh I'm no racer I like to go out cruise have a quick squirt on a supercharged ski then just cruise again,, but I like stability I'm not after any records was only Gonna buy the rxp300 coz it looks so F%kn cool (bit of a silly reason to buy but hey at least I can admit it) hmmm maybe an FX SVHO is the way to go

Other thing I'd like to add plastic wear rings and carbon seals are a good service item/maintenance requirement that bring in good profit for both the dealer servicing dept and the manufacturer through spare part sales... gotta make more money off the customer after they buy the ski right?? Haha
