would a new one make my spark slower? i just got mine replaced and now it goes 45 instead of 50 and the acceleration is slower

I sucked up a rock the other day & jammed my impeller. Dumb question, why not put a screen to stop large debris from entering the impeller?

i know video is like 2-3 years old but just came across it only because im doing research to diagnose whats wrong with my brother in laws 2021 Spark.. question for ya...what is the stock impeller? and could a guy replace it with the Solas 12/17 impeller or whatever ive been seeing ppl upgrade it too but keep the plastic wear ring? or if you upgrade the impeller then do i need a stainless wwear ring? thanks for any advice, even though its 2-3 yrs old!
@Vikturus2k6 Жыл бұрын
You can use stock plastic. SS wear rings are nice in clean water. I run in lakes and I run one in my spark. Works great. You can do 12/17 on a stock machine. Mines modified and custom impeller.

What about changing the gtx 300 limited prop out with the gtx prop. What r ur thoughts thanks.
@watercraftjournal3 жыл бұрын
We're presuming you're asking about the GTX 300 vs. the 170, correct? The 300HP impeller has the part number #267000951, and the 170 as #267001056. The pumps, wear rings and more are equally not the same, meaning that you cannot swap a 300HP impeller into a 170HP pump.

@@watercraftjournal That is my fault. Ment the 2021 rxp-x 300 prop to the 2021 gtx 300 limited. Or are the props the same. Love cruising and going fast.

Every damn weekend (5 so far) has resulted in a issue with the damn wear ring. Deep open lake water and I keep Sucking something up on the damn Trixx. Feel Like a need a Damn filter for this like a car.
@erikryan92047 ай бұрын
My thing is, if something goes through the prop 9 times out of 10 it will damage something. Now a plastic ring and aluminum prop will take more damage than a SS prop and ring. I would rather have more robust materials to help withstand anything passing though to keep me from having to replace parts more often.

Its really not bad job changing out the wear ring on sea doo spark im sticking with plastic wear ring

No, it's not. Most people should keep with the plastic wear ring.

I think plastic wear ring also has tighter tolerance resulting in better off line hook up? Plastic wear ring can physically touching the prop leaves no gap and stainless ring can not
@watercraftjournal3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, we can’t really confirm that. Many times the initial etching made by the impeller is due to driveshaft oscillation.
@benschroeder11612 жыл бұрын

SS is machined way tighter.

How bout a solution for the carbon seal issues people have ? Easy: don’t run the ski out of water for longer than 20 seconds, even when flushing, only flush for 20 seconds max, you’re only flushing the exhaust and cooler.

its name says wear ring so its for wear a stainless steel is not for wear so for those idiots they can use a tungsten carbide wear ring.
@ParrotHead19803 жыл бұрын
Sorry Kevin I truly have to disagree with you. The stainless steal wear ring is a much better option and maybe you are not taking into consideration that the plastic wear rings Do NOT Protect the impeller at all. Yes the metal on metal is bad but what happens when you shred a plastic wear ring completely on a seadoo. Your dead in the water versus a metal wear ring. The yamaha may damage the impeller but it will still run. Plus changing out a wear ring versus a impeller is the same work if not just as hard. My buddy shredded his wear ring and I had to pull his GTI 155 SE to shore. Plus lets face it, its not a cheap plastic wear ring you have to worry about on a Seadoo, its the crappy made carbon seal that sinks them to the bottom of a lake yo have to worry about. LOL!!
@watercraftjournal3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, years of use and service records prove your opinion as incorrect. Yes, catastrophic ring failure will strand you, but so will an impeller with blunted or folded-over blades, equally catastrophic. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but the years of use have proven its original intent as somewhat successful.
@ParrotHead19803 жыл бұрын
@@watercraftjournal Well everyone has their opinions my mechanic agrees with me on this and he has 9 years of off shore racing with jetskis and has worked on every watercraft from Polaris to tiger shark to seadoo to Yamaha. I tend to go by there recommendations.

I agree with you too. I had a 2003 185hp Supercharged Sea Doo with a plastic wear ring. It was constant issues until Sea Soo thankfully replaced it with a metal one. I never had an issue again and the ski went from maybe 63mph on gps to 65.5. No comparison whether it was acceleration or top speed. I had two plastic ones replaced before the metal and the metal permanently fixed it.
