IF it's happening, and that's a big if, the only thing I could think of that would make Valve release HL3 is the launch of SteamOS 3 and the new controller. Gabe only cares if the game introduces something new. It's why they cancelled plans for it long ago. He said the game simply wasn't adding anything really new. So if this is true, you can bet that the game will work well only if you have the new Steam controller. And since you've already invested in the controller, might as well give the OS it's designed to work on a shot. The money Valve would make, even with a game like HL3, is still a drop in the bucket compared to Valve controlling a major OS designed around their store. The former will bring in riches; the latter will bring in wealth.

Grab something and hang on because it'll get kind of weird, but this slow pan over a mystery image you can't see all of fits right in with how the clues got delivered the last time. IIRC last time one clue was a phone number located in Washington State that was shown on a single "glitched" frame of a posted (or datamined?) video. Calling it using a dialup modem connected you to a remote computer was running an old BBS that you logged in to using a username and password someone else had figured out from other clues and posted to some forum. I don't remember what that itself led to though. Taken together it was all a really fun way to build buzz and keep people talking. All of the clues were delivered in really obscure ways, but once found it was dead obvious it was a clue to begin with, so I have a few ideas here because this video is sus and smells exactly like that old Portal 2 ARG. Take the audio from this video and look at the spectra in some analysis software. Take the frames from this video and stitch them all together (don't use screenshots; extract each frame and combine them); is it a painting already known to the public? By whom? Of what? Is there something this painting doesn't show that is somehow a clue? Examine each frame for pixels out of place. Does this include a QR code in yellow-on-white pixels somewhere? Are there groups of objects in threes in the original painting, if in fact it's pre-existing? Etc., etc., & etc. Maybe a waste of time.... or..... maybe.... our initial clue in a P3 ARG.

Valve is a California-based game company. California penal code 197 is the justifiable murder of someone in self-defense or in the defense of others. Well all know Gordon Freeman is not a willing servant of the G-Man, so as far as stretches go, it could be a hint that Gordon is going to make a stand against the G-Man in the next installment? Or Perhaps it's a hint at the return of Adrian Shepherd from Opposing Force, since you know Shepherd and his group was tasked with killing Freeman before he could cause any more problems.

Probably conformation for an announcement in late 2025. I’m guessing HL3 would then release in early 2026. It also seems that Mike was confirming “The next quarter century” as in: HL3 was supposed to come out somewhere within the next five years. Then he directly contradicts that and confirms it IS ready and IS coming WAY sooner than we thought. “See you in the new year.”

might be a stretch but just something that came to mind while listening to the G-Man x Barney audio. There's a clock ticking in the background for the whole video. Maybe a reference to - "Time, Dr. Freeman? Is it really that time again?", or maybe it's in reference to how Mark Shapiro said he feels the G-man is constantly everywhere in time and is experiencing multiple things at one and that's how he portrays G-Man's voice. Dunno if I'm scratching at glass or what, just thought it was an interesting choice for a background sound.
