the koi discussions are really my favorite to watch. As a koi keeper, it's really great to hear someone else talking about them with as much enthusiasm as I would and giving information on koi. My dream job would probably be to work in a place like mystic koi.

In order of preference, my favourites would be: 1. The koi discussions at mystic koi - informative and interesting - love love koi 2. The construction videos - very instructive 3. The pond tours - for inspiration, mostly One question: Any progress on the safety features planned for the fish in the bog filter pond as mentioned in the follow up video? #asktheponddigger Could you perhaps do a video on the safety features to be included in a fish pond?

I like everything you do. I do not really have a preferance but some of your videos on how to build a koi pond or fish pond go into such detail in how to lay the stones correctly which is something other channels are not explainging so well. When I was building my pond I made so many mistakes and I came back to your videos.

Hi, I really like watching all the videos especially the koi pond construction or any other series and there is still many which I need to watch. But for the time being, I am avoiding most of the koi discussion videos as I did watch some and found myself loss even so they were interesting and informative. I will keep them for later. Can't say that there even one which is bad as all is interesting, always something new and very informative, even this series is great. Something I should say is that the quality of the video contribute a lot and I am sure that it take a lot of your time to give us your your best. So continue the great work. Would love to see 1 - some shot of pond when everything has taken there place like the plants have grow up, the stone get older etc. 2 - the ponds at night time with all the light effect 3 - More info for adequate plant that you are using around the ponds, if possible. 4 - keep making us dreaming and to want more Question: Is it true that rats can make holes the pond liner? As I ask a supposed professional here in Mauritius, 'which is better and more adequate for a pond; liner or concrete? He answer was: go with concrete as rats may damage the liner and would be less expensive. Thanks

It's nearly impossible to pick a single favorite. #asktheponddigger Your koi pond series is by far your best series yet. I bet people would pay to download that off a site, or buy a DVD. Maybe even a DVD full of all your different series to date. I loved the frog pond series because it was different from what everyone else does and it was really attractive when complete and you didn't need a four foot deep hole to get it installed. I think most of us would love to see more Ponds Gone Wrong and how you fixed them. How about a series on a couple different pond/waterfall designs on a budget? Maybe a 'What can you build for $500, $1000, $2000'? Call it the "Tax return pond". :)
@ThePondDigger
@ThePondDigger 10 жыл бұрын
***** Great advise! thank you for that! The frog pond was our attempt at what you can do on a budget. We do have some smaller projects planned this year. You have to know Rosemary's pond was monumental for us to film. Took us 8 or 9 months to film. You'll be glad to know we have an EPIC Ponds Gone Wrong 3 planned for 2015. It's extraordinary, I promise! I'll give a ton of thought to the Tax Return Pond. Stay tuned as we plan to Double Down on videos this season. Brace yourself!

Hello Been a long time subscriber, going to try the spring cleaning next week. Have a quick question after I put the new water in, do I have to wait to put the koi fish back in.
@ThePondDigger

dgfpat Be sure to use dechlorinator to make the water safe for the koi fish. We have a show scheduled talking about chlorine neutralizer but want to make sure you have the info before you dive into your project. I have to say we typically wait till March 15th here in So Cal to tackle spring pond care projects. Your pond will rebound faster if you want a few more weeks. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!!!

I learned alot of the Koi Pond Construction parts. I love my pond but its to small now and i want to size everything up using a bottom drain and a skimmer. Also i'm going to install an airlift to save alot of money on power. A pump just uses to much power. I want to ask u 2 questions. What pond liner do you think is good enough for a small pond of about 6000 kubic liter, epdm of the cheaper pvc liner. And the second question, did you ever installed an airlift and/or will you do it or do it again? But its a joy to watch your video's and learn from you, keep up the great work. BTW i'm from the netherlands, so that's why i use liters. :)

Sitting here in a Brooklyn apartment building, unable to take advantage of my own genius when it comes to backyard ponds, I nevertheless have an idea for you to design and build: a combination waterfall and wet/dry drip filter. It would have the advantages of being a superior aerobic bacteria bed and aerator. Picture a waterfall with a series of 'shelves' (minimum 3), each separated by about 12-18" of open air from the one above and each shelf containing 6-8" of gravel. Uniform water spread and flow through the unit is accomplished by use of a screen with spaced holes at the top of the first shelf, and by similar screens underneath the gravel in the lower shelves. Some mechanical filtering via screens, hosed off and washed monthly or so, should be used just prior to the falls to prevent sludge build-up, either at the pond skimmer end or at the top of the falls in a container, disguised by rock and spilling out onto the falls. These types of filter are the most efficient at biological filtration and the design I describe could be easily disguised and decorated. One could even use some plants, as in a bog filter, at the perimeter of wider than strictly needed waterfall shelves. I'd love to see this in operation, the Pal Joey Falls.

OK Eric my pond just got crazy. I'm sure you've ran across the problem I'm having. I dug my pond about 4' deep into almost pure granite. Had a leak in my waterfall. All that water went under my liner. It pushed my walls in and knock all the rocks a had around the pond into the bottom of my pond. Had to drain my pond so I could drain the water under it. My plan right now is to finish all my plumbing. Then I guess I need to find a big pipe and buy a float switch. Then I can install the pipe on the side of the pond and any time I get water from a leak or rain it well pump the water away. Any thoughts? Anyone had this problem?
