Hi Kim. Just wanted to say thank you for all your valuable information you share! I find it very helpful. I was wondering if you (or anyone) may have an idea what could be wrong with my tomato seedlings They look sad. Some leaves are curling under and seem soft. Here’s more info I used sterilized promix HP and all trays were sterilized as well, bottom water only and only when the tops have dried and they have never sat too long in water. I have lights on for 14h, they are NOT leggy ,I use a small fan, I fertilized using fish emulsion 1/2 strength 1x(so far) once the first true leaves have come in. They are in 4 inch pots and there is 2 per pot. I will be dividing them soon and adding a small amount of worm castings to each pot. Idk if that will help or if anyone can suggest trying something else. Everything else I’m growing is strong and healthy but these guys.

Hello Christine, welcome to gardening. First, remember, one step at a time....things are going to die...but that is not reflection on you--you just try again. And last, hang in there...when you have your first harvest.....you will be hooked (if not sooner). Ok, the calendula...GREAT observation...a couple of things...First, check if it's getting enough sunlight. Calendula loves full sun, so make sure it's soaking up those rays. Next, check the soil moisture. Calendula prefers well-draining soil, so avoid overwatering. Finally, give it a little boost with some organic fertilizer if needed. There's your assignment!!! Let me know how it goes? Please let me know where you are gardening from (generally). And please subscribe (if you are not already) and turn on the notifications bell so you don't miss a video! Begginer indoor gardener here trying to educate myself :/ Its been 18 days now and im sowing my firdt sets of indoor seedlings for this year. I did some last year for the first time and that turned out brilliantly(fluke) lol anyway my seedlings are struggling i think and i want to try and save them lol I dont have an led light or the right lighting for it but i do keep it somewhere just a bit hidden from direct light but just enough to get some fresh air when possible. The amount of water im giving is probably not enough because i have been spraying them from the top not from the bottom :/ so i feel a bit sad now and i think thats the reason why theyre all kind of limping. I think they need more water thinking about it now. But ill feed them the right way. Ill wait till the first true leaves pop up and will start feeding them the right food then. Some seedlings didnt grow at the same time so im a bit worried how im going to feed them because ive out them in a cell tray instead of sowing them in seperate seedling cells :/ ill know for next time :/

I'm starting my Tiny Tim in a 1 gallon smart pot. I saw you misted them with water when first planted. Do I just keep misting them or do I need a tray to put my smart pot in to water from below?
@CaliKim29 Жыл бұрын
Hi SS - I mist the seed containers before the seeds germinate to keep the top of the soil moist at all time. After germination and as seedlings grow, I water from the bottom as I showed in this video. A drip tray is needed at that point to soak up the water from the bottom. Good luck with your seedlings!

@@CaliKim29 Hi Kim! I think I need to be more thorough in writing literally every small step with each plant or something. I get confused about how much water to water them, like how much is comig out of the hose. I forget what each plant specifically needs both when you're planting it and when it's growing. I just forget everything, I have a brain lesion in the base of my brain, so I know that's me issue, but I am determined to prove myself wrong this year! Last year I think I tried to grow too many different vegetables. Everything started off good and slowly where either destroyed by bugs even though I tried every single remedy and bought all the different products to try to stop them, or over AND underwatering. Something would just end up happening and all the sudden they died crop by ctop. Oh yes, now I remember, my tomatoes at the all had this weird superficial lines across them sometimes they would be black in the lines. And the peppers on the bottom they all turned black. The corn was doing so good and then suddenly turned purple and rotted. Broccoli looks so beautiful but then these bugs eat them straight down to the spine! I tried diatomaceous earth and I forget what else. All the recommended things. Although I am not giving up and this year I I'm very hopeful because I have all my seeds I bought from you so I am so excited and think with your seeds I will do better! ❤️❤️

@CaliKim292 жыл бұрын
Hi Messody, yes, lettuce is a cool weather veggie and will take light frosts if the plants are established, but most likely the soil is too cold for lettuce to germinate right now in NY. It will germinate best when temperatures are around 60-70. Start seeds indoors about a month prior to your last frost date, then plant outside. Always transition your plants gradually to outdoors, will have a video on this in the next few weeks. Does reusing the fertilized water spread fungal disease?
@CaliKim29Ай бұрын
Great question: Yes, reusing fertilized water can potentially spread fungal diseases, especially if the water comes into contact with infected plants or soil. Fungal spores can be present in the water and then transferred to healthy plants, leading to the spread of disease. To minimize this risk, avoid reusing water from plants that show signs of disease, ensure proper sanitation of containers and watering tools, and consider using fresh water for irrigation- CK
