Hi Lou! Always love your early Summer Fig Orchard, so healthy! Squirely had me laughing..he was so still just waiting to steal your VDB or Peter's Honey Brebas, but you caught him in the act that little rascal! Love watching and learning from you! Thanks!!!

You're clearly a wise man Lou. Love the shared knowledge. I 100% agree watering is critical and needs to be very closely monitored. Imagine here by me in dallas with temps ~100 daily and it's humid. I have several ways to monitor what's going on. It can be brutal on my mostly potted trees. Looking forward to watching the rest in a bit

My grandmother used to tell us when we did something similar when you dropped the fig and picked it up and ate it. She said, "You gotta eat a peck of dirt before you die". I always think of her when i do that.

I had my VdB breba a month ago. 4 years old tree in a 10 gal pot with a headstart in my garage. Got it from ProFig. Love your baby fig kindergarten 😀. 7A Central Jersey

Its funny my fascination with figs is simply because they dont do well in ground here , i got all these other cool fruit trees in ground and thriving but i never watch videos about them lol Ive literally found apple trees that will do well in ground in florida , bur figs will get wrecked by nematodes i hear and i dont wanna chance my baby fig plants , so they remain the only potted trees on my property

Great video lou , is there any way of telling just how much and how often to water ? I hate those dam squirrels!
@loumonti103 ай бұрын
@roccoconte2960 Hi Rocco! Thanks for watching! Well, as a grower yourself, I'm sure that you've developed a second sense with regard to evaluating proper watering. Still, even for experienced growers, it's not unusual to lose track of certain trees & plants and sometimes under or over water them. It's very important to try and concentrate on the watering process. I have a rain gauge, and I often write notes and record how much rainfall there has been, when it rained, and every time that I water my trees, as well. With my container plants, I constantly monitor them and personally lift them up a bit off the ground so that I can accurately determine whether they need water or not. I try to let them dry out sufficiently between waterings so that they aren't subjected to root rot and other diseases associated with over watering. I'm constantly mindful of the harmful effects of under watering, too! The monumental importance of proper watering is absolutely imperative for successful gardening, and this is one thing about which I am absolutely certain!!! Regards! Lou Monti

Good day, have you ever employed the use of soil sensors to wirelessly monitor soil temperatures and moisture levels near your fig trees?
@loumonti10Ай бұрын
@shalomtoday Hi there! Might I suggest that you try Peter's Honey or Kadota. They are both fairly Nematode resistant. Regards, Lou Monti

Do you think I-258 can handle in ground conditions in zone 6b with protection? South ob Boston Massachusetts in shoreline.

@uzunerfatih Hi there! No, I do not think that I-258 would do well in ground in 6-B. Thanks for watching. Lou Monti
