@@mschenandlerbong8539 I was surprised how well they do in the freezing Winter. I live in Northern Utah and would keep a heat lamp in the coop. Much much tinier than Laura's. I would let them out in the snow and they loved it. They would walk around and eat the snow. I loved calling them when I would find earwigs and they would come running. They loved eating them.

Another advantage to turning the nozzle off between watering is getting to the base of the plant so you don't wash off any deer repellent. Now that the Hartley has arrived, I wondered if the gazebo is set up in the park yet.

Just a suggestion that you may already have done - I had a conservatory attached to the back of our house in NJ zone 6 I think. Radiant heat in the floor for winter was a relatively low cost addition, and made all the difference. It was built by Classic Conservatories, which was an English company. One of the things the rep and sales person and site guy and engineer (4 people) all discussed with me is the things they had learned over time about construction materials given the different climate(s) in the US. There are not so many extremes of weather in the UK. There was a learning curve for them regarding materials and in some case construction methods when they started building in the US. Just wondered if that was ever discussed, and it might be something you want to ask about. It came to mind because of the extreme dry heat you are having now. I don't think where the Hartley was "born" that these are weather conditions that were encountered. Can't wait to see the greenhouse up, and what you do with it. I check your channel every day !

The quail in the garden brings back great memories. Ann and I lived in 29 Palms, Ca. our first year of marriage (36yrs ago). I was in electronics school for the Marine Corps. Being high desert there were a lot of quail around our apartment. I can relate to your watering, since I don't have a drip system. I spend 4 hours a day watering. Luckily we have had thunder storms for the last 3 days.

Great idea with the misters for the girls. For my four girls I take down milk jugs filled with water that I’ve put in the freezer the night before. Leave one under their coop where the hang out to and another over by the cooler corner of their run where the nestle down in the dirt. It’s always cute to see two around one jug and two around the other during the hottest part of the day. I also have shade cloth over their run space and along the south fence area so the majority of their run space is shaded. They also have free range access to part of the yard which I’ve fenced off just for them. There are lots of trees that shade the open space too. What we do for our girls!!

It didn't matter whether the plant was ready. She needed the container. Usually the plant blooms and after it has been hilled to the max, the plant will droop to the ground and be ready for harvest. I think she should replant those tiny little potatoes and see what happens.

It is nice to see that your Greenhouse is coming. Love that your puting in big trees and shrubs on mew property. It is nice to have my coffee in the morning and watching your Video's.

I'm so excited that the Hartley is home! We can't wait to see it finished. Man, your hens live like poultry royalty. You could put the waterer on a landscape block to lift it off the floor a couple inches. That keeps the the water cleaner when the hens scratch around it. I didn't even notice Benjamin's mismatched shoes at first. All I saw were those beautiful blue eyes. He's gonna be a lady killer some day! 😄

WOW cant wait to see the finished installed greenhouse ! The anticipation is killing me. But just thinking, with all that glass n high temperatures isn't it going to b killer hot inside in the summer.

I’d be more concerned those winds will uproot a shrub or tree and knock it into the glass greenhouse. 🤭

@@zaria5785 I'm sure its shatter proof glass...mmmm....something like bullet proof glass, after all England does experience hurricanes. So some thought must have gone into the type of glass hence the cost of it. Just saying, I really dont know.

It is a heat thing, in most cases,, not a water issue, most plants wilt in the heat of the day to preserve their water in the leaves. It was fun hanging out with you today..oh and congrats on the arrival of the Hartley!😍

FYI ... if you don't have a pot large enough for the "black water pan" that Laura uses for the chickens to drink from and take their dust baths in, you could purchase a very sturdy black plastic 'water heater pan' for about $13. They can be found on line at Home Depot, Lowes, or any supply store. They can be purchased anywhere between 16 and 30 (or so) inches round. I used one as a mold for a birdbath I made from cement, but it would be perfect for this purpose also.

I have a quick question with as much work as you have to do to keep things healthy happy and thriving, what’s the longest you could leave on a vacation and no with confidence that everything on that property is well taken care of? Just in this video I’m worn out and you’re only filling the water for the chickens. You are amazing and inspire us all.

Here in the Willamette Valley, Monday was a 117゚. We thought we were going to cook. Our poor plants no matter how well watered are succumbing to the heat. I feel as though I am fighting a losing battle. For us, this has not been a great growing year, between fires last year, ice storms earlier, our poor plants don't know what to do. Hope things are going to settle down for everyone. I love your videos, they Inspire me to keep trying. Up in the morning with Laura, Aaron, and Benjamin, gets my day off to a great start.

Hi Laura are you concerned about your wind storms sandblasting the glass and etching it?
@sheilastromberger2275
@sheilastromberger2275 3 жыл бұрын
Once they get the sprinkler system in and the grass planted, the sand blowing will be cut down significantly. I’d be more concerned about the hail storms.
