Waterloo 1/72nd Airfix British Infantry & Review of Uniforms of the Napoleonic Wars

Well what can I say, Looking at all the 1/72nd scale videos and paying close attention to everyone's love of our hobby got me delving into my 1/72nd stuff and actually figuring out what I need to fill out the regiments. Starting with my Brits first My goal would be for two to four British Regts., 2 Neatherland Regts, A KGL Regt., and a few companies of Nassua, Brunswickers, and Prussians. Lastly I stroll through an older book

Hi John, Definitely a great book to have, :) wish I had it a lot sooner, like forty years ago, wow how time flies. I am truly amazed at how big our hobby is and the multitude of talent that is out there. Simply fascinating. Take care John and have a great 4rth and God Bless. :)

Bob, I have Uniforms of the Napoleonic Wars and found it to be a good basic book of the period. A series that I like even more is the FG Hourtoulle series, especially the 1814 Campaign for France book. I also have the Jena Auerstadt and Austerlitz books by the same author.. There are additional books covering 1809 and 1812.. These books literally have 100's of drawings of specific units by regiments for infantry, guard, cavalry and artillery including horse furniture and regimental flags.. Be advised though that these books were written in French and the translation is not always very good but it is the drawings of uniforms and Army OOBs that are very good in my opinion.

nice video, i mainly paint 1/72nd scale napoleonics and you have quite an army, i believe i have around 800 figs, could you please estimate how many figs you have?

Hi Miguel, Ok 1/72nd scale figs I have starting with the French: 1,264 Infantry, 49 Guns, 104 Cavalry. British: 571 Infantry, 121 Cavalry, 23 Guns. Prussians: 135 Infantry, 2 Guns, 6 Cavalry. And I have on order from England 200+ British Airfix Line Infantry and 200+ Airfix French Line Infantry which will (most likely all) become Prussian line. Which will raise the total for the British 771 Infantry and 335 Infantry for the Prussians.

One more comment... I could kick myself.. When I got married 36 years and moved.. I actually THREW AWAY dozens of boxes of the Airfix Napoleonics I had at that time.. There was no internet back then or social networking, so I had no idea anyone else was interested in the hobby, so... out they went....
