Bolton could've easily manhandled Earl, look at the size difference although Earl has logic whatsoever making him the standout antagonist in Waterloo Road.

Earl only floored Bolton in their boxing match because he hit him below the belt when Bolton was distracted, Earl was a psychopath but not the toughest ever

Paul and Bolton were in mortal danger as the hammer on the loaded revolver was pulled back, and I feel particularly bad for Paul who had it pointed at his head. They had every right to be afraid for their lives, and it must've been a massive shock to them when they heard Maxine had been shot dead, as it could so easily have been them instead.

Yes I agree. It was exactly that reason why Bolton attacked Marley Kelly, which was a bit out of order really. It wasn't Marley's fault that his brother was a psycho. He tried everything he could to straighten Earl out.
