In mexico we'd drink Agua Fresca with every single meal in the summer. Melon, Strawberry, Mango, Pineapple, Guava, Guanabana. The distinctive thing I noticed was that it was never very sweet. I don't think they ever added sugar. It quenches thirst much more effectively if it's not very sweet.

I've been enjoying this for several years now and found a very good use for the leftover pulp. I mix it with a little simple syrup (I suppose just sugar might work) and froze it in popsicle moulds. The kids love them.

Tip: cut watermelon into cubes and freeze it as replacement for ice cubes because it won't melt into water and ruin the drink and the taste won't effect it

I LOVE doing this with watermelon, with very little sugar. It's fantastic just as it is. To fancy it up, I make a summer punch that blows everyone's socks off. It starts with the same pureed watermelon, only without the water. Fresh mint and strips of lime zest are infused in the simple syrup, and the juice from the peeled lime is added -- that mixture can be made ahead of time and kept in the fridge. Then it's finished with club soda before serving. I leave it up to guests to spike it if they choose to, but I think it ruins it.

After watching this video, I've made this three time already! My whole family loves this, and I cannot get enough. I even use the white parts that aren't as sweet, and add a little extra simple syrup. I also tried using just sugar instead of simple syrup, but the sweetness tasted kind of fake, whereas the syrup enhanced the sweetness of the watermelon. I'm going to try this with mint leaves tomorrow, thank you for this video :)

I agree that watermelon juice is one of life's great pleasures but all that effort isn't necessary. I use a NutriBullet to blend the watermelon so maybe that's the difference since the watermelon doesn't become so pulpy. Anyway, all I do is cut the watermelon in half and put them in the refrigerator over night. Then when I want a drink, I scoop the amount I want, blend it for about 5 seconds and then pour. That's it. It's pure watermelon juice. And when it's cold it's delightful. I could drink a whole gallon of the stuff.

After watching this I made this three ways. The best one was strained and with the smallest dash of salt. The trickiest part of this is don't make it too sweet. Use the sugar syrup sparingly after the strain. Just till you barely eliminate the organic taste then STOP! Let it get mucho cold. It is very, very good. The third batch tasted so good I drank the entire pitcher. LOL. It was that good.

You can do this with almost any fruit! Including mango, papaya, cantaloupe. Also, you can avoid adding the sugar and reduce it in a saucepan. It should intensify the flavor without adding sugar, as well as thickening it.

Instead of water use a bottle of Riesling wine, and add one frozen apple juice concentrate to the mix. Serve over ice or as a slushy. Add diced strawberries and it makes a great Sangria. So nice! I hope this helps.

I have put over ripe cantelope in the blender with orange juice and it's soooooo good. Nice frothy texture.....almost creamy. And it wasn't nearly as pulpy as you might imagine.

Yep, in fact there are versions of agua frescas with cantalope or honeydew in Mexico and Central America. They are made the exact same way, but you'd have to adjust the sugar/simple syrup to taste as those two fruits can differ widely in terms of sweetness. Enjoy!
