*Man, do I love eating watermelons, I have one problem, selecting the perfect melon is like playing the lottery, sweet or tasteless one never knows until you cut one open!* 🍉

There are a few things to look out for. The stripes should be even in size. If it's shiny, it's under ripe and dull is ripe. The spot where it sits on the ground should be more of a yellow/orange for lots of flavour and if it's white/light yellow it doesn't have much flavour. Elongated is more watery while uniform size and heavy is sweet. You can look at what the webbing means but that starts to be too many things to take into consideration. I follow these guidelines and I've been lucky in what I pick. I'm often asked what I'm looking for when I'm inspecting a watermelon to buy and I tell them just what I've told you but I am also able to show them as well so it's easier to understand. I have aspergers and I enjoy anything to do with food but especially picking the perfect fruit and vegetables. You can find all the information online but I thought I'd share my knowledge so hopefully it's easier for you. I hope it may help you to not waste money on watermelons that have no taste. 😊

I love watermelon but the price went up so an average sized one cost $US15 in my country. Just this year the crops have recovered and thry are at the moment $US4. I've been making sorbet, dehydrating slices and eating it as is. I've made up for the past few years. 😊

At timestamp 2:35. That guy is smoking while handling the watermelon. Guess you can smoke on the job in these countries.
