I very much agree with everything you said: great company with great products and support; pretty foolproof; stick with products from one company, if not for the warranty, at least for assurance of compatibility across the suite of products. Same can be said for a few other companies, but Schluter is a great choice. Thanks for the video.

Personally, where I'm at, we're seeing lots of these showers being pulled out. The foam shower pan doesn't seem to hold up the best past a few years, the grout gives out and crumbles out. Haven't seen issues with the walls yet though.

I’d be interested to see more about this. Is it the pan, install methods, framing causes, lots of variables. We have a few that are more than a decade old that are holding fine.

I’ve been using Schluter since 2008 with no issues. I am intrigued by the Wedi system though. Looks very similar except they have a caulk instead of thinset for screws and seams. I’ll never use cement board again though.

I have looked into other systems and just haven’t pulled the trigger because of the lack of training from other manufacturers. Wedi does look interesting.

Schluter's warranty is useless. They will NEVER pay a warranty claim, because they will ALWAYS blame it on installer error. Good luck finding an attorney and spending thousands of dollars in court.

Maybe you’re just not a very good installer. This system has been used in tens of thousands of installations all over North America and Europe with excellent results. In my experience, the warranty on most products and systems is never even an issue if you follow the mfr’s installation instructions and do everything correctly. I’m speaking from the perspective of 30 years of project management experience in commercial design and construction.

I have to pause at 1.5 minutes in and say bs… not rightfully so… do you really think it right to void all warranty just because you used the same product that’s banded differently! This company has had it fare share of failed products too…

Dont like the warranty, use another brand. I wouldnt warranty my system if someone replaced anything with a chinesium option. If i engineered and designed a system a certain way, and i cant control or confirm the quality control or exact ingredients of a similar item from a different company that you want to substitute, how can i risk my warranty payout money on a hodge podge system not designed to be one? Its not about failures, its about responsibility and insurance against investment, so when THEIR product fails, you get reimbursed. When ANOTHER company's product fails, why should a different company be responsible?
