Think some of you need to realize that if he didnt way overplay the middle that he would never get a ball to hit. She has nothing to complain about unless she is hitting well under half the shots. Looks to me like she hits at least 2/3rds of the shots. Shes a great player, but would be overwhelmed by the onslaught if he stayed on his side of the court. Also watch mr johns play when he has weaker partners, he does the same thing.

I agree. They lost a lot of points because of his useless Ernes. Trying to show off but not putting the ball away, just leaving his partner to cover the entire court.

I think you’re confused on what an Erne is.

@@BadContrakt The Erne is a shot where you hit the pickleball either (1) in the air as you are jumping around the Non-Volley Zone (also known as the Kitchen); or (2) after you run around or through the Kitchen and re-establish your feet out of bounds, just to the side of the Kitchen.

That's not showing off, that's trying to take time away from your opponent. If your opponent is Ben Johns, you do everything you can to get a single point. You can't possibly imagine how good he really is until you realize he can destroy guys that have great drops, backhands, and power. And if Ben Johns is teeing off on your female partner, you do everything you can to slow him down. Show off? They're trying to win.

Show off or not, the point is he is overdoing it and should have stopped after the first couple ones that didn’t lead anywhere! Do it right or don t do it at all

I’ve gotta say that I would not be ok playing with Hoggie McHogfest. His partner may well be an excellent player, but how would you ever know.

I never thought the day would come when I was unimpressed by an Ernie. But that day came. Was this a known tendency before L. Waters decided to partner with him? Or was this perhaps one of those skeletons in the closet that didn’t come out til too late? 🤔

Pickleball is still not as invigorating as Badminton. It just does not get the heart rate going!

Wrong. Played at a high level it sure does. (I’m a long time competitive badminton player now playing pickleball). Singles pickleball is as good as singles badminton for the heart

@@ScottT109 I am 65+ and still playing badminton. At this time though I play only the occasional singles. It is mostly doubles for me. From what I see on You Tube pickleball seems like a walk in the park which also raises the heart rate!! LOL

@@ChristianMatthew315 been there, done that. The dig about You Tube was meant in a funny way! I have played Pickleball before. My biggest beef is that Badminton is not getting its due respect in North America. Think about the various televised sports and you will understand the low priority given to Badminton. I am grateful that where I live the senior center offers both sports, pickleball as well as badminton.
