Greatly appreciate this video tutorial. My Vision+ had exactly the same damage - gimbal separated on the roll axis tearing the cable - but no damage to the pitch axis. Tedious work due to the size but the repair worked perfectly saving me $600 for a replacement camera.

Great video TY, I replaced the ribbon cable like shown here, when I fired up the phantom the gimbal started to flop around erratically in all directions and I didn't see any video coming through. Any suggestions?

Great video but sadly I have needed to use it twice. The first time was went perfect and everything worked like new. The second time I have a problem. Camera pan and yaw work, but the roll does not (roll is where the unit separates). The axis moves freely without power and you can hear and feel the unit attempting to move under power but unfortunately it does not move. That of courses causes the app the throw an error suggesting the gimbal is obstructed. Everything else works fine and I have shot video with it in flight with the current condition but there is of course evidence in the video that there is no roll stability. Any thoughts or ideas on what else I might try? Thanks again.

Neco Alert, but this video was a big help. Tip for others, get some plumbers putty or almost any putty and use it as a base for the part to keep it from moving around on the table.

Hi I fixed the horizontal on the gimball, put the three screws back, went for a flight and everything was level,,, got it out today and everything in all wrong like before I fixed it What did I do wrong or what should I do^

Hello, I followed the repair all the way to the epoxy part. I decided not to add the epoxy at that point so that I could align the stabilizer later on. My camera now receives a signal, both the gimbal base and the vertical stabilizer are working, but my horizontal stabilizer will not rotate. I have not added the epoxy yet. When I tried to turn it on the first time, it rotated momentarily before slipping. I'm going to assume this is because the camera is not correctly aligned with the little motor. Is that why the epoxy is so important? Is it possible that the motor itself is out? How do I approach solving this issue?

Also, if I move the camera with my finger, I can hear the gimbal trying to align or rotate or something. Not entirely sure.

Sorry for all the messages, but a bit of an update. The camera works almost 100%, but now I receive a motor error on my DJI app. I'm thinking it could be a few things... 1) the new flex cable I bought is faulty at that point. unlikely given that is where the majority of the damage occured 2) the flex cable to that motor is out. if this is the case, is it possible to replace that motor individually?

When the DJI vision application is on (or litchi), I don't get any video image, and the camera also tilts towards the bottom. I manually can tilt it down as well, but not up .... any ideas ? Plz

Luego de una caída al piso de mi Phantom 3 std reparé el gimbal cambiando 2 motores el Yaw motor y el Roll motor y cambié el flex que se había cortado. Cuando enciendo el drone la cámara no se estabiliza en la posición correcta tomando una posición extrema quedando los motores haciendo fuerza. No se que hacer. Hi. After a fall to the floor of my Phantom 3 std I noticed the gimbal changing 2 motors the engine Yaw and Roll and changed the flex engine that had been cut. When I turn on the camera drone is not stabilized in the correct position by taking an extreme position being engines use force. I do not know what to do.

thanks man; I crashed my drone on the first day I got it, the gimbal fell apart, tore the flex cable and was a huge pain in my butt! now after over a month I had the stones for an attempt on replacing the cable with the help of your video. it took me about 7 hours cause I didn't want to break anything else, but now it works again just fine and I'm over the moon!! thanks so much!

Similar situation, just got my drone and crashed it today. The camera separated from the gimble and tore the flex wire. Ordered a set off of eBay so i hope i can get them installed and everything works good. Tried turning it on for the hell of it after i crashed it and the camera was just going crazy up down sideways. so hopefully this fixes my problems. I am just gonna follow the steps in this video.

I'm not so convinced the horizon of the gimbal in your Video will be horizontal, I've done this twice on my Phantom and the best way I've found to get a pefect horizon is to level it first, check it on the screen/app and THEN apply the epoxy from the outside. If you apply the epoxy at an early stage like on this movie you risk to end up with an uneven horizon. AND: on my Phantom the axis camera arm has to be the other way around.. the screw goes in on the flat side of the axis.. Everything else "this is the way you solve your gimbal problems"..

I need help. Seems I have lost power to gimbal. I get no video and the camera just turns to the left and no activity on the horizontal or vertical gimbal motors. Does not appear that any cables are broken. DJI app displays remove gimbal lock warning. How does one delete and re-install firmware for this?

Could you help me out. Today i crashed my pv2+. I had a gimbal protector that did its job from no motor seperation. The ribbon looks fine but when i tourn on the pv2+ the gimbal has no action and gives me a buzz....buzz 2x then about 5 sec later the same thing. Also the motors wont start up. I hooked it up to naza and the controller works fine but the gamble I'm not sure can you help me out thank you in advance I really do appreciate it

My camera control board is bad. Apparently when the cable shorted to the chassis it burnt out the Controller output chips. I thought replacing cable was going to fix my problem but the chips are bad. I fortunately was able to test the gimbal and camera on another phantom and it works fine. Thought about buying someone's broken camera on eBay but suspect too many of these Broken cameras would have same issue. So I just use this drone for practice without the camera. Maybe some point will find a good controller board.

Just push the clips down as far as the base of the plastic screw type part holding the camera to the bracket, no need to cut off your fingers trying to use a flat razor blade to cut them off plus you can't reuse them his way and you can this way!!

38:12 The camera is twitching out while it tries and find equilibrium, having an epileptic fit, can hear it buzzing. 38:19 When you pitch the quad forward and backward the cameras vertical tilt is hanging like a limp sausage. 43:03 Here it didn't want to stabilise at all, you were stabbing it with your finger to bring it back to life while hearing the brushless motors short out. 44:00 'Tilting it pretty hard here and as you can see, it's staying pretty level'... The room was leaning side to side, your assistants head was sideways and look like you were operating the camera with FPV Mode enabled to the camera movement is synchronised with the quad. You sure the gimbals fixed? There is now way a gimbal calibration will fix that either. Those motors are dead.

The next time you have to take a gimbal off. Push those clear plastic nuts up the clear shaft and then back down. They'll come right off. No need to pry them open as you were doing with that blade.

Why do Americans use those two words "Go ahead" so bloody often. Remove those two words and what follows is perfectly understandable, so it's not as if they actually mean anything. It's as bad as Ummm and errr etc. Very irritating to hear the same thing over and over again. I doubt they even know they're doing it. As for the razor blade, errr, ummm.
