That secret swimming spot is where I go with my dog. The trails continue up along the left side and that takes you to punch bowl which is a great spot. Be careful of water moccasins they are as poisoned as a rattle snake. Poisonous snakes have a more triangle shape head and non poisonous snakes have a more round or oval shaped head. Hope that helped a little. If you come back up it great here in the fall and the first weekend in September is our vintage Grand Prix where they do a mock race in the streets like they used to back in the day.

water moccasins are only in the south, from southern Virginia and southward

Nicole, are you a local to that area? Do you have to stay in the campground, or can we access the trail when we visit Watkins Glen Rainbow Bridge? Also, do you know of anything going on in Watkins Glen area for the 4th of July this year?

Punch bowl is a nice spot for a couple of minutes. It gets sketchy once you realize how murky the water is and the depth seems to be a black hole. The hike down further if you can make the small drop is actually a lot more exciting.

@@taramckenna8765 Tara, you can go anywhere. Fireworks can be seen all around the lake. A pontoon rental is a great decision as the water is usually calm on the 4th. Also Corning which is 20mins south has Fireworks in town over the river if the lake does turn windy.

How long did it take you to get from the train line to the spot where you start descending and do you go under or over the train line/bridge? We walked for soo long after walking past/under that train bridge and it seemed we weren't headed in the right direction because we were at such a high elevation, and eventually turned back. My kids just couldn't walk any further. Still no idea if we were headed in the right direction or not!

I’m honestly forgetting it’s been a while. But I think you go under.

Is there a clear trail that leads there from the campground?
@Famvestor4 жыл бұрын
Christina Wood there is a well used trail but there are no signs pointing to the swimming hole.

Hey man, I've looking at doing a whole road trip of swimming holes around the north east and possible go out west to places like Wyoming and Montana to do the same. If you guys go back upstate Ithaca Ny has a bunch of great swimming holes as well.

Why would you have your small child walking on the edge like that 🤔 If his hand slipped that child's getting hurt or worse. Some parents are so infuriating.
