okay first off im white and i grew up in dearborn and i have nothing but love for Muslims. I had best friends boyfriends and neighbor's who were muslim and ive never had any issue with them. people just don't like change and anything diffrent from what they know. I moved to a small town and i told one of my co-workers that i wanted to learn arabic and i almost got my head torn off for saying that. idk why tho? I don't like the bad apples of the bunch but you have those in any race. Muslims treat you like a guest in there homes,restaurants ect. I went into a Lebanese restaurant one day to ask if i could use there bathroom and they fed me a plate of food before i left and told me it was no charge. i think they were just happy that i came in and mentioned how good everything looked . So dont comment on what you dont know!

he was in old Dearborn by the Miller St bridge. That's the oldest community of Middle Easterners If you drive about4/5 miles down Miller you get to the newer and larger part of Dearborn. I remember my father driving us past the mosque on the way to my grandparents and I asked him what it was. This was many yrs ago. the mosque was much smaller then as I remember .

The population is much larger than that. I grew up in Dearborn on tireman ave. Them being my neighbors and me being a Christian I've helped my neighbors from time to time I've seen with my own eyes. They report to the census one family per house hold but really most have three four generations in one house. I've helped the neighbor across the street from my fathers home move some flat screen tvs. and there are beds in the dinning room living room and throughout the entire house. There garage is set up like a living room i kid u not. They have even today so many people living there at the three bedroom house that the traffic is unbelievable most times u can't even park on our side of the street because of all the cars that belong to the people that live there. And its a corner lot. I can guess that the population of muslims in Dearborn is twice then what is reported

I was born and raised in Dearborn. It was the model for the country in Parks and Rec and great schools. It is not now. It is like a foreign country. The statue of Mayor Hubbard (who “built” Dearborn) was torn down for not being P.C.

My neighborhood in Astoria, Queens- NY is starting to look a lot like that. During their holidays they take over the parks, and every other street. The city allows them to close the streets, and they pray on the middle of the street. They line up their sandals at the edge of the side walk, put their butts up on the air and pray. When I drive around, I see that is not only in Astoria. Other parts of New York are the same including Manhattan.

yes. it's 100% safe, and just like any other urban suburb. the south side has the newest migrants (you might think the people look scary, but is statistically the safest neighborhood in the city). east side is 2nd,3rd, and 4th generation. west is upper middle class area with mostly white with some ethnic upper/upper middle class people.

That said, while many of our schools do accommodate those children who did not learn English at home, I assure you they are all teaching them to speak English in school. This is no different than the challenges faced by many Latino American communities in the south and in other pockets of America where the ancestral language (Finnish, German, Chinese, etc) is shared locally by many. Americans have many different heritages, the least of which belongs to those who truly have a right to claim they are natives. That is why all of us are distinguished as being German, or African, or Japanese, and yes, even as Muslim or Christian. It is reverence for our freedom and the values of our heritage, personified through the constant blending of different ancestral cultures that makes us all Americans. To deny our ancestry is to deny that which makes us Americans. Perhaps you ought to pick up a history book and learn a little bit more about your government instead of repeating everything you hear from your friends.
