this is a slap in the face to all immigrants who follow the rules and immigrate here LEGALLY. people like my grandfather who came here through Ellis Island, nor speaking a word of english, learned the language and became a productive member of society. I would say "Papa, can you teach me italian?" and his response was, "no, you're American, in America you speak english, besides how would I have learned English if everyone is speaking Italian?". his citizenship papers were framed and hung on the wall. it's been 23 years since he passed, his papers now hang on my wall. we were taught to be proud to be American, GOD BLESS AMERICA, IF YOU DON'T LIKE OUR WAY OF LIFE, LEAVE AND GO HOME, OR IF YOU'RE AMERICAN, GO FIND ANOTHER COUNTRY! I'd like to see how well these people would do in the middle east, try protesting...

The sad thing is our borders are so insecure that we can deport a felon MULTIPLE times and have them continue to sneak back in. How is that not scary to people, regardless of your political party? Kate's Law is great but it's still going to cost us $160,000 (that's an average across all states) to house that one single inmate for 5 years. We also need to fix our border problem. It will save us money in the long run.

Here's the thing, I'm all for immigration, but immigrants should be legal. If someone from Mexico or wherever just stows again to get here, they are, by definition, breaking the law. I think we should allow immigrants but with a screening process and a path to citizenship, like Ellis Island.
