Hell yes, we needed this! Great analyzes man! In the whole meme debate I think many people overlooked just how good and polished Fanchen's performance actually is from a musically point of view. I saw many people comment how there are better pianists, harder pieces etc. without realizing that that's not what this was all about, you can't really compare two pianists when they play different pieces. In fact this wasn't even about showing who is the better pianist or flexing some very hard and technically demanding piece. This was about showing how you can take one piece, one arrangement (although he of course did make some changes) and play it in such a way that it draws a picture in the listeners head, emphasizing each note in order to produce something that is truly musically. This was about showing what sets a performance that is good or even great apart form one that is mediocre.

He told me that I was a too-beginner for me teaching him. Honestly, it hurt my feelings, but I do admit I'm a beginner. It's much better if a professional could teach him so he wouldn't waste time at my not-well-polished skills and instead take advices from those are professional who are knowledgeable and experienced. Efficiently is everything in his life. He does not waste time and suck all the advices and criticism from the professional and hear nothing from his peers. It is his greatest strength, but also can be his downfall. People may seem see my brother as an arrogant person. Ranchen is a well-trained and talented musician, he made Rush E from a meme to classic music, that is pleasing to the ears. There's no music theory in this vid aha, this is more technicality and musicality. I think.

I don't get the whole. Criticism argument that I keep reading in the comments. Fanchen wasn't criticising the OP. He was giving a rather blunt statement to a question that was compelling enough for him to answer. It's like seeing a random peice of art hanged on a public street that garnered the masses going "oh wow so cool. Much talent. How can anyone dislike this?" And him as a bystander that just happened to be there replying "Probably cause its mediocre. No offense." Literally giving his straight opinion on what he just witnessed to a question posed by someone next to him. That statement wasn't even directed at the OP. It'll be different if he left his own original comment saying "its medicore no offense" but he didn't. It's not a critique unless you're directly talking to the creator. It's just an opinion. You can argue about his opinion. Which imho is the correct assessment. It was rather mediocre if viewed from the lens of a professionally trained pianist. Or even from anyone who has some idea of what polished good performances are. But you can't keep saying he's the villain for giving a shitty critique. When it can't be a critique as it was never directed at the OP. It's just his genuine reply to a question posed by a fellow audience member.

The reason why the majority went after Fanchen is because the majority is neither talented nor hardworking nor taught in behaving accordingly online. Saying that you know something is great or mediocre in a field you have no mastery of is the norm online, yet it's neither valuable nor legitimate. Taking offense that someone who does have such mastery, build upon both skills and hard work is in his place to rate things differently than you are is the actual arrogance. If you suck at something, you have the right to shut it when competent people are talking and... no, nothing more. Shut it. If you want a sit at the big boy's table, you have to earn it. Looking through the most difficult part, it would be playable with 21 pianists and 11 grand pianos. The 4 pianists playing the melody share one piano, the 8 pianists playing the constant repeated notes section all share one piano, and the other 9 pianists have a piano each as they need to use a whole piano. One of the pianists however must be allowed an engine - probably a block of wood strapped to each hand, one 9 keys wide, the other capable of playing all the keys at once.

This reminds me alot of that song by Brahms called Hungarian March or somethin like that.. u can tell whichever piece came first strongly influenced the other
@btat163 жыл бұрын
It’s because both pieces use this, for lack of a better term, Eastern European sound. The minor key, the speeding up, the fast runs, etc. I don’t think the Hungarian Dance was a direct influence on Rush E, but they both borrowed from the same source which makes them sound similar.
@thebicycleman80623 жыл бұрын
@@btat16 but do u know the song i am talkin about. It was in aminor and had like a very 1 2 1 2 1 2 rythm on the left hand. Had a bit of a gypsy feel to it to, i think it was called hungarian march by brahms. Im 100% sure its brahms, so jus check brahms and the word hungarian and its one of his most famous pieces its in pop culture too

As with most things, there are real levels of skill that aren't always apparent to the casual audience. A performance that may seem good may lack the subtleties that make another great. Even when we plebs can hear it, it's undoubtedly magnified in the ears of high level musicians. Their standards are simply much higher.

definition of arrogant: having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities definition of confident: sure of oneself or ones abilities Fanchen is confident, not arrogant, he defers to piano players better than him and doesnt pretend to be better. Him shitting on the original player may have been immature, but it wasnt arrogant, because he was capable of playing it better than that person, and fully acknowledges his own faults.

Could you do a video on the popularity of Yan TIersen, and whether it's warranted? His piano music might be the most popular on youtube (him or Ludovico Einaudi), comptine D'un autre ete is now part of the contemporary piano repertoire for beginner-intermediate pianists. He has other tracks that are extremely popular as well. I'd love to see what a serious pianist thinks of his work.
