I'm a cold weather camper Phil, and a cold temperature swimmer, can't handle hot weather riding at all, never did it when I was younger as well, but except for a stint in the army, have always lived in the mountains around the traps. I like watching you, you give me good routes to follow, thanks mate.

Yep, can't say I enjoy the heat either. I like "warm" but not too hot. Cold is ok, so long as the sun's out..lol Cheers mate 🍻

Was very surprised no-one was there also! And good question with Georges Junction. Not sure what the plan is, or why the No Camping signs are up now. May re-open when the road does, perhaps 🤔 Time will tell...

Cheers Kane! It's a fun run up there via Kempsey - Armidale Road (only open on weekends) but sweet run there from most directions. Worth another stay on the moto- if only to avoid the summer crowds and heat 👍

I noticed when you were at George's they are putting Gates near that campground i hope they don't close it off its such a good spot to Camp There and im still yet to do that
@MidCoastAdventures11 ай бұрын
Ah yeah. It's looking ominous as a future camp spot - judging by the signage and barriers. Was also signs saying surveillance cameras installed. So, camping there looks to be shut down. I hope not also, it's a fantastic place to camp.

Magnificent country and a great video showing it. Thank you. I really liked your travel gear vid and just thought I’d put it out there for a future video. You couldn’t get much more of a difference in bikes for this trip and both did it well. I’d really like your thoughts on whether you sometimes regret not having a bigger bike? People travel the world on both and you’ve gone from a DR to the Honda. If you could only own one bike and wanted to do what you do PLUS a trip a around Oz. Would that change your bike?
@MidCoastAdventures11 ай бұрын
Good question, Stephen! First off, yep, entirely different bikes / size on this ride, but both effectively do the same thing. One (mine) is simply easier to handle, move around and ride rougher terrain- but not as good one the open tar road. Pete's Suzuki, is dead opposite to what I just listed - but will go to most places the smaller bike will. One bike 🤔 Ideally (for me) something like the KTM 690 / husky 701, but...I'm not convinced they're reliable enough yet. Specs are perfect, just haven't got the trust in Euro bikes like I have for Japanese machines. Cheers mate

Another great watch Phil, top spot to escape to, and great riding. Funnilly enough, your ride map reverts to the long way there, but I know where you went. What's with the Georges Junction no camping signs? Any idea? I was planning to camp there on the first day of a trip in mid March.
@MidCoastAdventures11 ай бұрын
Cheers David. Mate, I don't know what's going on with camping at Georges Junction. The area looks to have been given a face lift recently, but no camping signs and they claim surveillance cameras are set up. But the land is a designated Travelling Stock Route. Personally I'll be camping there when I feel as the land is public land. Cheers mate 👍

Its such a good spot, but the reason there is jo camping there currently, is due to armidale council apparently doing works. If we go to georges junction from armidale and have an acicident, we are not covered by insurance at this time.
@MidCoastAdventures4 ай бұрын
Apparently, the road is open to local traffic, and yep, like you said, no insurance if a rock slide or whatever happens 👍

So is the Kempsey to Armidale Road open again ? The NSW Live Traffic App, says it's still closed in both directions.
@MidCoastAdventures11 ай бұрын
Hey Kev. Technically the road is closed, but for local residents have access. Basically, they do work during the week (have barricades up) and access is very restricted. On weekends, however, no work is done and the gates are left open 👍
