Sonic is a bit limited on aggressive burst options (his nair hitbox just isn't that good especially) and his numerous ball moves are so good at starting combos. The result is a character who rewards the player for camping, constantly running away til a spin dash connects. Cool, flashy, aggro Sonic (the canonical attitude of Sonic the video game character) is simply not always optimal at top level play.

When I first picked up ultimate (having skipped smash 4) I ran into a Corrin online and thought the character had such a unique moveset for a swordie. Immediately picked them up and been a main since the pre-patch days! It's great to see Leo's Corrin return from the brief stint a while back. Shadic and Neo are great in their own right, but it's nice to see a grand finals with Corrin. Good stuff to both players!

I love seeing Leo stick to his guns here. I feel like too often Leo would get discouraged and switch characters rather than staying the course but I love seeing this wonderful return to form of getting the download and modifying his playstyle to suit the match. Once he got to the second set there was just an obvious difference in how he was playing and it was very cool to see him work out the matchup on the fly as he's so good at doing.

Sonix is a great heel and given a different character on his end, i think he could be one of the most hype players out there. Sonix regularly makes the most clutch or insane plays but because its sonic, nobody cares because there was 5 minutes of camping before hand. Watching Sonix is a pain in the ass. His play style is 90% running away, waiting for the smallest possibility of a punish and nearly never approaching. I am quite new to Smash and especially pro scene. Why did MKLeo win the whole thing when Sonix won the first best of 5 and then after the split MKLeo won the next of 5? Shouldn't they both be 1-1 for sets and go for another best of 5?

Its double elimination bracket. Sonix was coming from loser's bracket meaning he already lost a previous match, while leo is on winner's side since he has not lost a match. The one on loser's side has to win 2 sets while winner's only has to win 1

Yeah, Corrin dragon fang is trash. It's a laggy move, and the actual projectile is slow moving so it can get blocked easily(though if you do manage to hit with the projectile, then you could do some cool follow ups). I gotta admit, it's a cool and unique move but there's a reason not to use it alot.

I mean that’s how Sonic works, he is a bait-punish type character and his weight is quite light. Yeah, yeah, aggressive Sonic is very fun to watch but people don’t understand that it’s quite hard to play aggressively as Sonic. A bit late but smash tournaments run on a double elimination bracket system. Usually there's "pools" first where you fight everyone in your pool and depending on how you did you get to winners or losers side of bracket or if you lost a lot in pools you might just not get to bracket at all and will drop out. Then in the bracket, people on the winners side can lose once and still stay in bracket but they will drop to the losers side instead. Losing in losers side means you're out. Once both winners and losers sides of the bracket proceed far enough so that there's just one winner on both sides, these winners fight in "grand finals", which is what the set in this video is. In grand finals the person who made it from the winners side is at an advantage because they are still allowed to lose one set, while the person who made it from losers side has to win two sets in a row to beat the person from winners side. In the video you can see next to Sonix's name there is "(L)" which means he made it to grands from the Loser's side and Leo made it from winners. After the first set where he beats Leo, Leo's name also gets the "(L)" added to indicate that they are now even and that it is the true final set.

Sonic still needs a nerf, such a masher. Just give him a tiny more lag on any of his moves, or take away his constant intangibility. How can he camp, mash, rush, frame trap, all at the same time?

Joker can deal with this... sonic takes very long to kill which can lead to multiple Arsen in 1 stock making dangerous for sonic to not kill him early...
