Taiwan doesn't want to have friendly negotiations. The CCP has never had control of Taiwan it has no right to it's territory. The ROC has diversified greatly since the civil war and enjoys a prosperous economy and one of the most democratic governments in the world seperate from the CCP. Taiwan ranks 8th on the Global Democracy Index, while mainland China ranks 148th. The Taiwanese people don't want their freedoms taken away by an authoritarian regime. Not to mention the indigenous culture which wasn't a part of China until forceful annexation from the Qing Dynasty in the late 1600s.

It is disheartening for me to hear Mainland Chinese people say they are willing to use force to subjugate Taiwan. I believe the average Chinese person is reasonable and empathetic, but there is so much more for Taiwan to lose than for China to gain in violent conflict. Taiwan was subjugated by Japan yes, and as well as by the KMT, however it has been developing its own sense of collective nationhood for the past century. Let China and Taiwan maintain friendly relations, and if it happens - grow close through cultural exchange and soft power, rather than through intimidation tactics. Sadly I know Taiwan is a pawn in the game between the US and China, and so its own desires cannot be fairly assessed. Even if the mainland views Taiwan as a part of itself, it no longer governs it - the stance is merely ideological. And lest it not be forgotten, Taiwan was an Austronesian island whose people still live to this day, before China even gave it passing glance.

That's easier saying it, but doing are 2 totally different things. People don't realise it, but America has been funding the succession, seperation of Taiwan from China's sovereignty ever since they split up, because that's what the US wants. I see Taiwan as just another vassal puppet government catering to US interests, rather than the interests of the Taiwanese people. If you ask the people, in Taiwan today, they don't want war, confrontation, it's the same shit in South Korea, people don't wanna live in constant fear anymore, so this constant fear, is perpetrated by America on purpose, so they can sell more weapons, make money, profit from these tensions, that's why US does it, but that's only 1 reason. Other slreasons are due to geopolitical, strategic reasons. If US can control Taiwan, they can setup military bases there in Taiwan, the other reason is, economic reasons & political reasons, for containing a rising China, competitor to US. To all my fellow countrymen in Mainland China, we overseas Chinese who were born in the west, see both sides of the coin here, including myself. It is one thing to have amicable friends from either side, Taiwan/China PRC. But to have this mind set, that America means well, isn't involved in any way, of the tensions between China, Taiwan, to expect America to play nice here, isnot only naive, but downright stupid. The American government has been funding, Taiwanese propaganda for decades, they've also been funding Anti-China propaganda for decades too. America are still funding such activities against China. People in China have to realise, that America doesn't care about Taiwan or the people there, they only care about dividing the people, splitting Taiwan from China's sovereignty, that's all America 🇺🇸 cares about. That's been their goal all along. Otherwise why else would America backed Chang Kai Shek for, because they wanted him to rule the rest of China, as a vassal state, just like Japan today. But thankfully they were unsuccessful, Chang Kai Shek lost against Mao, then KMT had to flee to Taiwan, ever since they lost, America has been funding them ever since, if it wasn't for US funds being funneled to these seperatist groups in Taiwan, such as the DPP party, Taiwan would've crumbled by now. Remember, Taiwan was under Martial Law from 1949 to 1987. That's a long time for martial law to be in place. So all this funding from America has tried to reimage, re design their proxy, their vassal officials in Taiwan as democratic, but if you look at the history, Taiwan from 1949 - 1987 was NOT a democratic government, it was a dictatorship, a vassal puppet government beholden to USA 🇺🇸 interests. It has been like that ever since the DPP took over from KMT. Many Taiwanese citizens have relatives back in Mainland China, in various counties, provinces across mainland China. It serves no purpose for either side to fight against each other, because we all have the same blood running through our veins, we're all Chinese, all our ancestors are all Chinese. I've seen DPP for many years now, trying to de sinicise the Taiwanese population, trying to rewrite their own history, distancing themselves away from their own race, you cannot just hit delete key on your keyboard 🎹 & try to change your own identity. If a Taiwanese person went to America, Americans would still you as Chinese because of your skin colour. We speak the same langauge for god sake, same culture, eat the same food etc. Kind of reminds me of how Hong Kong used to be like. The British whitewashed the history textbooks in Hong Kong to reflect their own version of Hong Kong history, to paint the British as benevolent rulers, who gave them opportunities, & improved their life's, this is what majority of younger generation in Hong Kong used to be taught. But this is far from the REAL History of how Hong Kong was like under British rule. No democracy, no democratic freedom, for ordinary Hong Kong people, all positions of government power was hand picked, chosen by the British. Banks, Education ministers, all hand picked Chosen by the British. Ordinary HK citizens were treated as third class citizens on their own land, whilst British foreigners all had higher management positions. This has given rise to traitors like Jimmy Lai Chee Ying, Martin Lee Chu Ming, Claudia Mo, Albert Ho, Anson Chan, Agnes Chow, Joshua Wong Chi Fung, Nathan Law, Sixtus Baggio Luerng, Jimmy Sham, Yau Wai Ching, Joey Siu, & many others like them. Jimmy Lai, used his Apple Daily & Next Media as propaganda outfits, to brainwash the population, to hate their own country, guess what, America was funding Jimmy Lai, Martin Lee & many others like them via National Endowment For Democracy aka NED. Who funds NED? Its the US government, US Congress directly funds NED, which is a propaganda outfit created by CIA in 1980's, because the CIA were caught red handed washing dirty money in banks. This is the exact same thing what the British did in Hong Kong, using HK Triads, to wash dirty money in HK banks, hence why HK had to create ICAC, to stamp out the corruption, but they don't tell you that it was the British who were also heavily involved with HK Triads, in that dirty operation, you don't hear that in any rubbish biased western msm. People in China should learn from history, that America is a country NOT to be trusted EVER. Look what they did to those Japanese War criminals, they let them all go free from any future prosecution, all those butchers, from UNIT 731, Shiro Ishii, were all set free, in exchange for the scientific data from UNIT 731 & various other places like UNIT 731. Look at Ukraine, look at the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, for 56 years, America turned a blind eye, to Palestinians for 56 years, still taking sides in the conflict.

The key point you're missing or deliberately ignoring is that they see Taiwan's "secession" from China as a violation from colonial powers during the century of humiliation. Taiwan was colonized by Japan. Hong Kong was colonized by the British in the opium war -- which, mind you, happened because the british parliament voted to invade china when China banned British opium in China because it was destroying their nation. When China was weak, the West didn't give it human rights or the right to self-determination or self-governance, so you can bet they're not going to listen to preaching. No one would say that Beijing is the capital of Taiwan, everyone knows that Taipei is the capital. Not only that just because someone has a shared language and culture doesn't give you the right to claim it as your territory since you consider them the 'same' people. For example majority of Singaporeans are Chinese, speak mandarin and follow Chinese culture. Does that mean China can now claim Singapore as a part of their country? It's unfortunate that they don't know why so many Taiwanese are against reunification with China and they think its due to outside influences. First of all I would say it's a generational thing. For instance the first Chinese who fled to Taiwan after the civil war, they obviously had a deep bond with the mainland. Their children, the first generation who were born and raised in Taiwan, had some notion of China from their parents through stories or whatnot. However since they grew up during the Cold War most of them did not have a first hand experience of China until the 90s early 2000s. Moving on to the generation who grew up in the post martial law era in Taiwan. Most of them did not grow up with any particular sense of unity with the mainland largely because they didn't have parents that really experienced China. Also it was already certain in everybody's mind that the ROC would never retake the mainland thus pro indepedence became the alternative. The second reason, and I believe it was the real turning point was how the CCCP handled the HK protests. The people of HK were fighting for all the things the Taiwanese hold dearly. It was like a preview of what would happen to Taiwan if it ever reunified with China. I am personally for peaceful co-existence, something like the U.S and Canada but I am against reunification. Despite speaking the same langauge and both consisting mostly of Han Chinese. I think there are still significant differences that cannot be easily ironed out.

The Chinese government does not let the people go hungry, and there is no fear of bullets. When going out at night, you can go shopping with friends, run, eat, anytime, anywhere. It will not ruin your life because of drug addiction, and it will not be ineffective because of domestic political infighting. 0:25 Most citizens of the PRC can't travel to Taiwan (RoC) unless they are in a tour group. A fact many PRC citizens ignore is "Taiwan" is already independent. The RoC was founded in 1912 and has yet to cease to exist since then. The CCP was the rebellious faction that was separatist and created a new nation (the PRC). 1:55 Lol, there is no freedom of speech in the PRC, that kid is delusional. Freedom of speech is being able to say things w/o your government punishing you. In the PRC you can get arrested/detained for saying anything that the government (CCP) doesn't agree with. Covid deaths? Jailed. The PRC isn't a democracy, jailed. Expressing the fact Taiwan has never been a part of the PRC, jailed. Lots of good CCP lapdogs, talking about 'democracy in the PRC.' But if they don't like the leadership (such as Xi), can they vote him out of power? NOPE. Who is allowed to run in elections that they do get to vote in? The CCP. You can only vote for CCP approved candidates. 3:01 Perhaps he needs to read the PRC's constitution. It says, very plainly, that the PRC is led by a dictatorship. Clueless fools. 3:17 Speaking the same language, having much of the same culture... So in his opinion, are Chinatowns across the world part of the PRC too? What about Singapore? This is a very flawed way of thinking that quite a few citizens of the PRC have. 3:28 She knows about Taiwan being ceded, but doesn't acknowledge the RoC being founded in 1912, or that in 1945 the PRC didn't exist, so who did Japan hand the island over to? Well, not the Qing Dynasty, as they were replaced by the RoC. 3:50 Ahhh, another misunderstanding by many PRC citizens. Chinese is both an ethnicity, and a nationality. People in HK and the ROC don't deny that they are ethnically Chinese, but many in those areas want nothing to do with the nation of China (PRC), currently led by the CCP. 5:38 Exactly, and joining the PRC doesn't interest them. For those that thought maybe it could work out, the CCP showed them how the CCP operates. 2 systems 1 country for HK? No, 1 system 1 country. People didn't stop protesting in HK because they suddenly started approving of the CCP, they stopped protesting because the CCP cracked down on them. 6:06 Another clueless citizen. Yup, the island of Taiwan was given up by Japan. But did the PRC exist in 1945? NOPE. This is the level of intellectual dishonesty that so many citizens of the PRC have. 6:25 Wow, this guy is really clueless. Most people in HK didn't want independence, they simply wanted the CCP to uphold the deal they struck w/ the UK, for the rights, freedoms, and legal system that were in place in HK to persist for 50 years before the CCP changed things. The CCP couldn't even wait 50 years. But, I guess in his defense, he is only exposed to CCP approved media, so he gobbles up every lie he is told. 7:15 Also, another thing PRC citizens gloss over. Why does "Taiwan" have more culture? Because the CCP/Mao instigated the Cultural Revolution destroying much of that in the PRC. The CCP is to blame, but they don't recognize that fact, they still hold up Mao as some great leader of a nation, when all he was was a great leader of a revolution. 7:17 "Our high-speed rail" Oh, so the interviewer is also a citizen of the PRC.... Yeah, we'll see if the RoC lets a high-speed rail connection be built between the PRC and RoC. But, what this video does show is how effective CCP propaganda is. A nation full of delusional people, ignoring major historical points so that they may maintain certain views that help big brother.

@@diamondluck3851 The infrastructure is too shabby. The transportation is also somewhat Southeast Asian. Even in Taipei, it resembles the motorcycle army of Southeast Asia.There are some very interesting things that can't be explained by science, like the relationship between genetics-region and aesthetic style.I don't know if it is because Taiwan is near Southeast Asia, and Taiwanese also have Southeast Asian genes, so the aesthetic style is similar to Southeast Asia?even Taiwanese motorcycle hats are the same style as Southeast Asian motorcycle hats … Their e pop culture aesthetic is also considered very outdated by mainlanders. Of course, 20 years ago, mainland Chinese loved Taiwanese pop culture.At that time, the group of mainlanders(KMT) who went to Taiwan in 1949 had not completely withered away. So the Taiwan aesthetic at that time had a "China "style.But in the last 20 years, Taiwanese culture has been localized and de-Sinicized. Their aesthetic becomes rural to mainlanders. I can quickly tell which one is Taiwanese and which one is mainland by the way I dress. For example, Taiwanese people seem to be very fond of multi-coloured dressing styles, similar to those in Thailand. The mainlanders have a minimalist style of Northeast Asian style.Girls' makeup can be distinguished. Mainland girls' skin is whiter and their makeup is close to that of South Korea. Taiwanese girls have a mix of Japanese and Southeast Asian styles. I call the two aesthetic styles "high latitude aesthetic" and "low latitude aesthetic".It is clear that Taiwan's aesthetic style has tropical characteristics. The low-latitude aesthetic is often unpopular. Has nothing to do with the level of economic development.For example, Hong Kong's gdp per capita is higher than South Korea's, but Hong Kong's pop culture is not popular, and South Korea's pop culture is far more popular.Taiwanese youth are now influenced by mainland pop culture, and even Internet buzzwords are used from the mainland.

Yes some buildings in Taiwan is Shabby but that’s not the case as it also has some modern areas now and the shabby building you refer is what I actually mean as riche noveau, maybe run down but definitely a better interior and high price value. You should look beyond the buildings but look more on healthcare, transportation and safetiness which is an important factor of quality of life of a nation and Taiwan does better in that than China. I can’t name any SEA countries whose rapid transit system is better than Taiwan, this alone is I can consider as modern.

It felt dangerous. The noise was very loud.It makes me feel a little bit Southeast Asian.On the contrary in the mainland, people don't ride motorcycles with loud noise and heavy gasoline smell, but bicycles and electric motorcycles, quiet and green.And I did not see the motorcycle army, even in the 5-line level of the county is difficult to see the gathering of dense motorcycle army scene.

I’m a chinese but the opinions in mainland is also deviant. Because A lot of Mainlanders don’t know that the fact Taiwan is Republic of China. And a large number of Mainland Chinese believe Republic of China has died. Therefore, their opinions are still deviant. And this is also a problem incentivizing the rise of Separatist movement in Taiwan because they cannot use the name The Republic of China中华民国. And therefore don’t have the concept Of China anymore instead of having the concept Taiwan more

Maybe one day the good people of Taiwan will be able to share with their mainland Chinese friends how to have a representative government. China will need to have at least one more political party and the complete freedom for all citizens to criticize their government first.
@forever-and-a-day2043 Жыл бұрын
they already have freedom to criticize the government, and the national people's congress is fully elected and represents the people, just like the legislative/executive branch is supposed to do in the US. The founding fathers tried to make the US not have political parties, but the USSR, Cuba, & China succeeded by exercising democracy though a single party that is essentially just the gov't.
