This is one of my favorite live songs from Baby Metal, and I when I first heard it I was astounded because the Afro-Cuban influences were so clear and on point. I have always been a big fan of old-school Latin music. Back in the early1970's I used to go see Ray Barreto, Mongo Santamaria, Celia CruzTito Puente, Machito, Tito Rodriguez ,Eddie Palmieri and all of the great Latin combos of the time. Mambo was HOT in NYC at the time. Later on, when I was married, my wife and I used to go to Latin nights at various clubs and through our circle of friends became friends with Tito Puente, Pete Escovedo (Sheila E's dad, Tito was also her godfather) and several other members of the band. I also enjoyed Perez Prado's seminal work very much. Later on I became very interested the Cuban artists who never left Cuba after Castro took over after watching Ry Cooder's documentary The Buena Vista Social Club. It was an amazing movie and Cooder's work brought back to the public such great artists like Compay Segundo, Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa and Ibrahim Ferrer. I have always wondered who put together and arranged the Latin aspect of Night, Night, Burn. It was an excellent piece of work.

Excellent reaction, as always, thanks! I'm not a big fan of latin music due to overexposure here where I live. So I didn't noticed much this song at first when the Metal Galaxy album came out. But when I got the chance to watch this live version from Legend Metal Galaxy (Day 1), I couldn't help but change my mind. It's pure 🔥🔥🔥. This is the only time they performed this song live. And I expect and hope it will change when they come to Spain next December and I hope to see it twice. 😁

Don't think I've ever commented before Wave but thank you so much for reacting to this - it's such a great song and reacted to very little on KZbin. My Wife is Colombian and metal isn't her thing but she loves this song. I saw Babymetal at Wembley a few short weeks ago - only on stage for 40 minutes as special guests of Sabaton (but I know you knew that anyway 😊) but anyway, take good care of yourself 😃

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 This song has been performed only once to date (on Jan. 25, 2020) and I witnessed it at the venue. ヽ(^o^)丿 In addition, this song incorporates horns that makes me, an amateur trumpeter, happy 😍 The title "Night Night Burn" may sound strange to you. This is one example of word plays and puns in BABYMETAL songs. I believe it has something to do with "peekaboo" in Japanese. When I play with a baby, I say "inai inai! covering my face with hands then open them saying "bah!" showing my face. Japanese barely pronounce "i" in this case, so sounds like "nai nai bah". When I heard the title of this song for the first time, it reminded me of it. So did many Japanese people. This Latin-flavored cheerful song dandles and tickles grownups and makes them smile.

I would pay anything to see Moa Tico Tico Ting live. I will see them in Seattle in October, but I doubt they will play this. I don't think this song is a big fan favorite maybe, but it is a lot of fun. That is what is so great about Babymetal, they play some musical genres that I normally wouldn't listen to, but when you add Su-Metal's, MoaMetal's and MomoMetal's dancing/singing, badass Kami band, and the crowd going bonkers...any song they do is fun.

The percussion you are hearing are timbales and congas. Both Tito Puente and Ray Escovedo were masters of these instruments. Look them up to get a clear picture of how the sounds are. As a drummer, I think you will fully understand. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of live videos of these artists so you could get a good idea of how what you are hearing is done. If you want to get a better idea, listen to Tito Puente's 1958 album Dance Mania. It's on KZbin.

I think the tracks from METAL GALAXY are even better when you hear the studio versions. The influences are clearer. On Night Night Burn there's more brass, more acoustic guitar and the instrumental section sounds likes its straight out of a Bond movie. All of the world music influences that went into METAL GALAXY made it one of 2019's best albums. In 2020, MIGMA SHELTER provided the EDM response with their ALICE album, pulling in influences from across the musical spectrum, not to mention a full zoo of animal samples. Completely different base genres (metal vs. techno), but united in their creativity.
