Waves Audio is kinda a Scam

It is very common in dialog sessions for film/ tv/commercials/audiobooks to have streaming links between DAW sessions in several locations. For instance, the talent might be in LA and the director might be in NY. The remote studio also records the audio so the director can do edits on the spot to see if the the dialog is working for them. Also the "picture" or the film is synced between the two systems so both can see the film in high quality. There are several plug-ins that already do this (SourceConnect, SessionLink...), but the Waves Stream is much simpler to configure use and costs about 1/3 the price. I suspect that is going to be their main customer for this. There are thousands of remote dialog sessions every day going on.

Wow how interesting! I certainly agree that this technology can have its use, it’s just that for Waves Audio’s version it’s pretty useless. Waves version has no way of recording remotely, no visual or “picture” for the remote person to see, and their main marketing point seen on their website has been for people working on music/checking their own music (not films which would definitely make more sense)

@@masterthismasterthat It comes with a receiver plugin you can put on a track or buss and record from a remote DAW. SMPTE can be on one of the channels for video sync and the other can be the dialog.

Who needs waves seriously? I was working in a studio back in 2003 I think when I first saw the Gold TDM suite and I was like WOW! What a flanger!! But at that time stock plugins of major sequencers weren't even working as they should... Nowadays things are very different. Anyways, love my Melda, UA, Sonnox, Eventide plugins... Waves - Tel Aviv - Cease fire now!

Ah yes the CONfidence plugin. it'll happen eventually lol also found out that the waves stream is a real thing 😂. no one tell them about OBS (free) and lossless streaming to other devices over IP or screen sharing over Zoom with screen capture. Or you know... just bringing a laptop into your car for checking there.
